Two Teenagers, 1 Bike, 560miles, 3 Days, & ~14kg Luggage

Yep, thats pretty much the formula for my little adventure last week!

It started off as a small little idea that we thought would never happen, i had always wanted to do a camping trip to the coast but had never had the chance to do it... and my g/f was on holiday. So i thought "Why dont we go together... for a holiday "...So we did.

After blagging £100 of 'Early Birthday Money' from the folks and dragging out all the camping gear, i started to make plans for the route and camp site. Found a lovely place called "Serenity" in a place called Hinderwell...and printed off a map of our route... good ol' AA Route Finder

Next was to sort out camping gear... after a little talk about what we REALY needed we managed to get the kit down from;
- 1 Tent, 2 Sleeping bags, 2 Roll Mats, 2 Pillows, 1 Blanket, and 2 Torches...
to
- 1 Tent, 1 Sleeping Bag, 2 Roll Mats, and a Double Duvet Cover

All was good, untill i realised we hadnt packed the clothes yet... and wasnt this next bit fun Trying to get the g/f's make-up, glamour stuff etc along with a few bits of clothes from me, into 1 rucksack and 1 small tank bag

We finally got it all packed up into bags and i set about tying it to the bike. We did the entire trip with No proper luggage set at all, i did ask R4nger for his, but he was using it Thanks anyway mate , so it was Bungee cords and shoe-laces all the way!

We got only got about 15miles down the road, when we had to stop and take it all off again, so we could re-arange it... as the luggage seemed to be bouncing up and down on the back like a crazy animal.

We finally got on the road again and with a few stops had clocked up 190miles and were into the North Yorkshire Moors! Now i have been over the moors quite a few times in the car, but nothing had prepared me for the feeling i was getting from the amazing bends and steep climbs / drops! It has to be the best road i have ever ridden! I loved every minute of it! A quick stop at a view point and a little chat with a trucky later, and we were back on the road. Heading now for Hinderwell.

Turned up at about 2pm and pitched up - the tent had never been taken out of the bag before, so it was an 'Experience' to say the least, trying to work out how to get it together Not realising that the fly sheet actually had an extra compartment that stuck out from the rest of the tent

So with the camp all set up we headed out into the town of Whitby, and spent the rest of that day, and the day after messing about in the sea, and spending money in the arcades The weather held up brilliantly and was a realy realy fantastic few days at the coast!

The journey back was mostly the same as the way up, apart from having to climb Blue Bank.. any of you who know the moors will know Blue Bank, and its not the shallowest of climbs now is it? The poor GS didnt half moan as it went up... but still kept a steady 15mph all the way up!

Anyway, after 210miles in the other direction we were back home, safe, dry, warm, and with seriously numb bums.

A truely great break away and i cant wait to do it again!

Ah.. the highway man cafe on the a64 just outside of york. Very nice bacon sarnies there.

I was at Whitby last weekend. Some nice roads but too busy. You should some over to the cumbrian side of the Pennines where there's roads to dye for and no fooka on them
