Just a bit curious for some feedback on this one more then anything. I've just had to take my bike in to get a new clutch put in and it appears there was a bit of an issue or miscommunication.

I contacted the shop last week to find the cost of having a new clutch put in and was quoted what I would consider reasonable prices for the kit itself and to have it fitted. I responded by adding an additional $50 over the quoted cost to ensure I was covered as a question, to which I got a hell yes reply.
So I said great when can you get me in and was told not for another week.
At this point all is good until I drop it off this morning to have the guy question me if they had a kit on hand for my bike. To which I responded with the obvious "Well I hope so"
Arriving home about 10 minutes after the drop off I get a call from them telling me they have no record of me ordering the kit and they dont have any in stock.
However he said he would order it straight away and would have it tomorrow no probs ( for this im greatful. speedy contact and all).
I then got the usual questions who did you speak to, what day was it and was it a genuine part or after market.
Not paying that much attention (that will teach me) I said sorry dont recall, last week and I wasn't given an option.
With a little after thought I called back thinking there maybe a vast difference in price between the genuine part and after market.
No real difference is what Im told and he will get the after market if possible as they tend to be a better unit. I check again if this will be covered by the money I have set aside and am assured it will.

Ok thats the story in a long winded kinda way.
Since this is the first time ive have work done on it by a shop, my question is .

Am I responsible or is it standard when getting a quote on parts and there fitment to specify that they will need to order one in or is it sufficient to think that after taking the quote and saying book me in that they would have enough sense to do all required.
Right now Im a tad confused and a bit miffed. Was I also obligated to tell them to roster someone on to do the work, have the oil and tools ready and anything else I may not have thought of.

Now I know some guys may supply their own parts but I was just thinking that the next step was a given.

I would have hoped that when booking your bike in for a specific repair/work they would check there and then that they have any specific parts, and advise you accordingly of requiring to order them (or not).
