Heya.

In the process of moving up to a bigger bike (CB500 Very Happy

), just wanting to get some figures for what people would pay etc...

Yellow, 54 Reg (January 2005), 10,000km, Clean Bike, Very well looked after.

I know a lot of them go for around £1900-£2000, I'm thinking about £1,795.

Anyone interested?

Yep. Absolutely wonderful bike, looks like a 600. Engine and frame is based on the Suzuki-V-Twin 500 (GS500).

Really confuses a lot of bikers (especially when I had the L-plates), I've found that you get a lot more respect (more head nodding) and loads of turning heads as you ride past. A lot of bigger bikes tend to shift out of your way as well as its bigger than some of the 600s.

It sounds nothing like most 125's with a bit more grunt and a roar as you get into the higher revs. It'll cruise at 50mph all day without any troubles, I've had a recorded top speed of about 70mph but with it being an unfaired it gets a little windy.

Its fantastic for anybody who's quite tall, I'm 6'2 and it fits me perfectly. When I recently did my test and had to sit on a little CG125 it was quite uncomfortable. I loved getting back on my Comet to ride home!

Starts up first time every morning (even through Feburary) with a little bit of choke. I tend to leave the choke on a little while riding (Especially when its really cold).

The tank holds around 17 literes of fuel, which gets you about 190-200 miles out of a tank.

Admittedly the engine looks different, but i said "based" on. Take a look at the image i uploaded. Thats a yellow GS500 (from google) along side mine...

The frame is slightly different, they've moved some bits around to suit the different size, but again, you can definately see where the idea for the frame came from...

The "style" of the engine (v-twin or inline) is very similar, and again, you can see where they borrowed the design from...

I personally think it looks "the same" and a lot of other people who have seen my bike have commented on the fact that it looks like GS500...

Yeah, it does look the same. Not surprising as I think Hyosung are owned by Suzuki (or they buy their engines, they have a strong relationship anyway).

Frame for 250 was originally designed for the 650 comet. SV650 has same engine as comet 650. Thats about it really.

Love the comets though. I can't believe no-one has bought this one yet. Bloody good looking 4 stroke 125's, theyre rare to come by.

Hyosung are really trying to make a good impression and they're customer service is absolutely fantastic. I bought the Bike through RPM who are a Hyosung Dealer (if you check out bavanar i.e. https://www.bavanar.com/ you'll see how they handle all the distributions around the UK), and they couldn't stop telling me how great they were and how they were the best _ever_ motorcycle company they'd ever dealt with and that in the past they'd covered any faulty parts under the warranty and replaced them without charge.

Hyosung are in fact in collaboration with Suzuki, one of the old Suzuki Engineers is now working with them (Which makes sense why the Comet looks so similar to the GS500)...

The bike comes with ~19 months warranty (whatever's left from my initial 2 year warranty).

I really love the bike, Every time I look at it I think it just looks so much cooler than all the other 125's. Only reason I'm moving on is my desire for a bigger bike and the fact that moving in with my gf soon, which means the 100+ mile round trip to work and back pushes me to get something that can handle long distances quickly (I promise i wont speed :-p), and isn't sitting too much at its top end. No offence to 125's but they're just not designed for motorway work! (Although I have seen some Scooters on the motorway... can't imagine how fun that is :-p)

I'm not in any hurry to sell, but its first come first served. Still willing to deliver if its within a reasonable distance and I'll get some L-plates back on it for no extra charge. Also just booked it in for a service next week, getting it all checked over, but if your interested I'm available for viewing at an arranged time.

I'm just off of Junction 31 (Sheffield Area) on the M1, or Junction 36 (Barnsley Area) if thats closer. Also I work in Sheffield Town Centre, so if your close by or work in Sheffield call me up and maybe we can arrange somewhere to meet in sheffield.

Got myself a CB500 over the weekend, getting the bike friday/saturday!

Because of this, I will be cancelling my insurance on the Comet before then (around thursday/friday time). Got it booked in for a service on wednesday, so I am no longer able to deliver this bike and the new owner will have to collect.

Naw, I still owe £1300 on the loan for it, Just bought a new bike which I have to pay for too so considering I payed over £2500 for the Comet, selling it at £1400 means I just get to pay off the rest of the loan an £100 to spare... thats 6 months of payments, no bike and only £100 to show for it... thats a loss of £2400... doesn't make much sense to me :-p

£1850 seems very reasonable in my opinion, considering how cheap it is compared to a brand new one and this is only 6 months old! These things really hold their value second hand (hey, never buying a new bike again :-p) and you'll be lucky to pick up one in good condition under £1900.

I'm not in any hurry to sell it, and i'm losing out as it is at £1850.

Just got my bike back from service (well, got it back yesterday). New oil filter, new oil, new plugs, and a general cleaning up (chain tension etc.)...

yorkshirelad3: I've never seen another comet in the entire 6 months that i've been riding... i occasionally see the GS500's and think, "oooh, a comet...", doh...

I pass through rotherham quite a bit, usually only skirt around it coming down from ulley, then up around whiston and then accross kanklow roundabout and up towards barnsley. I did my test in rotherham actually, although I did the test on a CG125 just to make sure i could get it aroud all the tightest corners (I can do everything on my comet but i'd been cought out before and didn't wanna waste £300 :-p)

hey, i just emailed you about the bike, that is if it is still up for sale, my friend is now desperate for a 125 and with a small windfall coming his way from a scooter accident which wasnt his fault see's it as a great time to move forward. unfortunatly he is on holiday at the moment.

I believe he will want to pay around the 1750 mark, but would love to come see the bike some time if it is still available.

where abouts in sheffield are you (i know most places, link to a land mark like hillsborough or sumfing)
