With your bike at the moment.

Can't remember a time when i have had machine running perfectly.

At the moment my VFR burbles at around 4-5.5 thousand due to the can i think, could be something else, it's annoying when powering out of a corner
Oh and the rectifier might be going.

Whats your niggle??

rev counter stopped working on the cx......other than that, never had a problem. Tappits are a bit noisy, but gonna strip her down this weekend for a good old overhaul! I expect her to have a few niggles after I have finished with her! Not doing bad for a 1980 though!

seems to be running hotter than usual.

I'm going to flush and redo the coolant.. maybe check the waterpump and thermostat are working properly.

Only noticed it at the trackday last week, when it got so hot I had to take my foot off the pegs at one opint as I could feel the hyeat thru the metal.

Indicators are the theme for this week...

They flash at double speed causing the wires to burn out for the front indicators... although i have to admit that it does create quite an impressive strobe light show at night time Wink

Tried to fix it earlier today and now they dont flash, just stay on... so i have to turn them on.. then off... then on... then off, manually to get the flashy effect that they require Wink

New Relay Tomorow! Fingers crossed that works eh? Wink

I have a slight vibration near to the rear light that rattles annoyingly. It appears there are some rubber spacers behind the rear fairing, so I must buy a couple and put them in sometime...

Clutch slip

Mysterious howling noise on down changes since the chain/sprockets were done

Flat spot at 5k revs when it's REALLY warm due to dyno jet set up

Flashers don't work (mine never do except for 2 weeks after the MOT, I am used to hand signals though).

Taillight doesn't work, just a case of soldering a wire.

Needs new front tyre.

MOT next friday so I should really sort it out, about an hours work I reckon.

Various other bits are smashed up/scuffed but as this is purely cosmetic, I don't see it as a problem and have no plans to do anything about it other than maybe rivett down some of the flappier bits of plastic..

Arrow No indicators on the bike.
Arrow Handlebars bent.
Arrow Forks not straight within yokes (possibly).
Arrow Rear light not working unless when braking.
Arrow When braking front light goes very dim/out.
Arrow Gearbox oil being consumed fast beleived to be caused by a seal gone within the engine and it getting into the cylinder.
Arrow Dodgy gearbox caused by above problem.
Arrow Sudden bursts of power/lack of power caused again by said problem above.
Arrow It's old and rubbish.

But I still managed to rub my boots yesterday without trying and with my feet tucked right in on the bike.

Well, I'm quite happy with my bike at the moment, even though it's old and wobbly.

Bad bits:

Both front discs are warped and make the bike vibrate when heavy braking. (Which I try to avoid).

Rear brake squeaks like a bitch even when slightly pressed.

...and, the engine sounds a bit rough at 5k rpm, actually 4 to 6k rpm sounds odd. I think the carbs need balancing.

Oh and one more thing, if I slow down and come to a stop but lean the bike a little bit as I'm stopping the revs pick up to about 5k rpm. It's not the throttle and it's not the choke. I think it's the little vacuum balancing pipes on the tops of the inlet manifolds. I'm not sure and I'm not that bothered about it. The bike starts first time every time and that's what's important. Thumbs Up

cx tappets are known for it, they are afterall sticking out of the side with nothing to stop the sound! Razz
If you do the tappets then you should really balance it straight after, makes a big difference, its a job i'm going to be doing asap..
Is yours a Z/A/B? i might have a honda factory manual cd if you'd like one Thumbs Up

I'd reccomend you oil the rev counter cable reguarly or you'll find yourself doing that job allot more often than is good Wink also make sure you use loctite threadlock on the fan or it will fark the camshaft barings (as i found on my previous cx to my dismay)

As for mine...

Squeeky suspension linkages Rolling Eyes (not a big problem, more annoying and stupid)

Very slightly leaky carb upon stoping (a spare set in a sonic bath right now Wink )

Oil seal on rev counter needs changeing...

Ignition key is a bit iffy..

Needs cleaning and painting in places but doing most will mean time off the road which i can't be doing at the moment Sad (maybe will wait till its snowing again..)

Old bikes need love and attention, things need doing and often haven't been done for years Sad
