Think you'll find either quite hard to find new, which is lucky for you because new bikes tend to mean losing a lot of money (unless of course you've got a lot of money to throw away Smile ).

I'm 6ft 2" and my Mito is just the right size for me... you'd be surprised how big some of the 125's are now.

They still make rs125's so you can get one from any aprilia dealer, nsr is going to be a bit harder to find.

I'm 6'4, 13 stone and I've got an NSR.

Fits me just fine, its a little heavy on the wrists, but it is a sports 125 so you'd expect it really. And anything less comfy than a sofa starts me whining Very Happy

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I'm quite sure that the NSR is also built in Italy, only designed in Japan. I know this is the case with the older NS125 so can only assume its the same with the NSR's.

RS125's are fantastic machines and run perfect when treated right, but cost a fortune when purchasing new. You're able to get a second hand one, perhaps a year old, still in great condition and low mileage for considerably less.

I'm 6 ft 4 and fit fine on the RS, so you should have no problems there. Smile

Slightly wrong. The NSR was built in Italy, but later ones were built in Spain. They were not designed in Japan, but were designed in Italy.

They both can suffer from problems. The NSR seems more able to put up with owner abuse, but more liable to random electrical problems.

All the best

nope actually i got 3 mates who have rs125 and all of em are fucked 1 the power seized shut so we've had to force it open and lock it there with a nut so it at least works abit another 1 blow a gasket when it was several months old and still restricted and the 3rd has had to have a whole new engine block due to it seizing on him and this is his 2nd rebuild on the dam bloody thing

also know plenty more people with italian bikes who've had problems with reliability on them

and dont say that italian bikes dont have problems because everyone knows that they do its commem knowledge so it seems you know fuck all

and yes my nsr has some minor electrical problems like the back light on 1 side some times goes out but the brake light still works on it but wow i can live with that and it still gets me to work and back unlike it wouldnt if it was in bits

So what part did Honda play in the manufacture of the NSR?

Mine must be a special one then. Ever though your m8's bikes broke because they weren't looked after. Funny how mines done 17,000km without siezing. Neve broken down and never failed to get me where I'm going.

matt2003's has done 20,000km+ on the original piston.

How come every who doesn't have a rs seems to have a m8 with one that fall's apart.

erm let me think coz the people that dont have RS's dont have the problem of breaking down and its coz their mates have RS's that keep breaking down the reason why they get another make

so your saying that italian bikes are reliable then?

So you know 3, one who dawdles around so the power valve sticks, then leaves it so long it is really stuck, then wrecks it by bolting it open, one who "blew a gasket" (which I have not heard of being a common problem, so which gasket was it?) and one who has managed to wreck 2 engines, which suggests abuse or a useless mechanic (and if you seize the NSR you will also need a new barrel if you are buying new parts).

Lay that against my RS which has been pretty reliable in 17000km (never restricted).

They own the factory at Attessa (Honda Italia). They also build a few other bikes there, such as the CB500 at one time.

All the best

the one that siezed the power valve open (smurf) rag's fuck out of it i dont think i have ever seem him go slow on it

the one that blu the gasket (mathew) which was the head gasket or sumrt like that onbly had his bike for about 5 months till it went and it was still restricted

and athour who's had the rebuilds has still got he restricters on but the crappy heads he gets (which are genuine ones) keep going so this time hes got a aftermarket one to see if it is any better.

also when i was looking at a RS250 mike ma mate from liverpool told about his mate that had one and it siezed at 100mph which was quite nice.

also steve ma mate next to ma dads house, his dad's mate is a duacati rider and had one from new 750cc dont know the model coz im not into ducatis anyway he had that for a week and it was of the road and the ducati machinic had to come out and replace a part on it.

There's no head gaskets on rs125's the have oring's. Which I've reused after removing the head without a problem.

What went wrong with the head?

O-rings suck. Break and wear out easily. Nothing better than a good old head gasket.

i dont know about the insides of em having never owned one but it didnt have any compretion.

yea do all the apprila's use the same style gasket then on the head coz ma mate badbo1 has just rebuilt his cylinder on his sonic 50 and it had a o-ring type gasket with four bolt holes on each corner of it.

Same as a rs50 then. The 125 is different, they have 1 oring in the top of the barrel and 1 in the head.

You need to replace gaskets though when you remove the head, o-rings you can reuse.
