PostPosted: 22:48 - 21 Jul 2005    Post subject: Iridium/Mirror Visor Question... Reply with quote

Hi...

A few months ago i bought an Iridium visor from www.racevisors.co.uk Cool It was all good but then i found that it would scratch easily and even more annoyingly, fade. People can now see my ugly mug through the visor, where you couldnt before... Shocked Razz

I was thinking of buying another, and now i have got an email from them with a 15% loyalty discount i might go ahead and buy one.

I shall not be buying an iridium one again though. I was looking at the 'mirror' one on this page....

https://www.racevisors.co.uk/index.cfm/view_id/4/details/true/code/V-HJC-H05

Would this also scatch and fade easily? Should i just go with a tinited black one?

If you bothered to read all this....THANKS! Razz Cool

Do you reckon a black visor would suit this helmet?

I have also got a HJC helmet and i bought a £2.50 tinted visor, and so far it is great.

One or two scratches which were entirely my fault and it has not faded at all!

Haggard, i've got a HJC AC 10 as pictured in that photo and i say that it looks mean with a black visor, here is a pic. I got mine from race visors for 25 quid so it's a bargain. Mine hasn't scratched yet after wearing it for 2 months in spring and summer with bug splatter. Just make sure you place a damp kitchen towel over it after use to remove the bugs otherwise it would ding & dent the surface. The actual tint of the visor is dark green, but look at it from a distance and it is dark like the ace of spades. Having said that, the amount of light it lets in is comparitively good as opposed to an insert. Ideal for the summer evening and low sun setting in the west.

For some reason, i think my visor looks mean with the red helmet because there is that contrast between bright and dark.

Yeh, the same applies to me. I got an e-mail from them the other month saying that i now have a discount since i'm a member. I would have helped if they sent me the e-mail first before i purchased the visor. I would still recommend using racevisors.com because they're cheaper than thevisorshop for certain models.

Off topic.. hehe andy, mine's bigger than yours! My screen's a 19"! Razz Middle Finger (just to make things worse - i've just upgraded my graphics card to a 6800GT so it now kicks arse!)

In order for a visor to be legal it has to be useable in both the day and night time. Their legality is not rated depending on what time of the day you are using it.

hmmmmm, glad i caught this thread, am looking for a new visor at the mo.

i'm on my second irridium visor now on my suomy lid in less than a year.

Rolling Eyes

and they ain't cheap! Evil or Very Mad

as i ride everyday, just don't think i'm careful enough with irridium as they seem to scratch so easily and then look crap and tatty.

think i'm gonna go for the darkest one i can find and maybe get another irridium one for'best' Razz

I belive you can legally send it back. Within 14 days, because you bought it 'mail order' so to speak. I forget the proper words, but it's getting late. Wink
