Just having a discussion and wondered if this would work.
Basically the grey lump is the engine and the V is the fairings. The black pipes are the downpipes. The downpipes all seperat from the link pipe in the middle so if they were just twisted a little and the fairings cut would it be possibale to make them stick out the side of the bike?
Would this kill the power? be stupidly loud?
Is it even possiable ?

Thought it would be really loud. I've heard a ZXR with no can which is stupidly loud but with no downpipes at all they are quiet as you like. Wasn't sure if it would make it stupid loud or quiet.
Yer I understand messing with the system is bound to mess up performance, thus why I won't do it. Just wanted to prove my point to someone. |

Yep perfectly do-able. You could even get some of those shorty baffles to stick in the end designed for VW beetles running on drag pipes. Just so as you don't break your neighbours windows and set off their car alarm when you start it up in the morning.
It would carburate like a bagowank though. Prpbably blast exhaust fumes all over your legs too. Come to think of it, the wind would probably whistle through the holes in the fairing (which would have to be considerably bigger than the pipes to avoid melting them) in an intensley annoying manner.
By hey, such is the path of true riteousness, and believe me, slash-cut drag pipes on a Japanese sports 400 would be well down that path in my book.
This modification would not be possible without a homemade, rattle-can flame paint job on the tank and fairings. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
