Has the actual free crossing for bikes come in now ? And do you have to go to a special point to get through, or do they just raise the barriers wherever you go ?

Thanks

Been free for bikes for ages.

Just go to a manned kiosk and wait until they raise the barrier.

Don't try to follow the car in front through. Wait until the barrier drops and rises again.

Thumbs Up

Top tip. Don't go through the left hand tunnel on a bike.

The only time I will freely admit I was utterly terrified on the bike. Totally hemmed in on all sides by HGVs in the certain knowledge that they were so close together, none of the drivers could see me Shocked

Yes, they get very very arsey if they think you're going to follow a car through. Even if you're still rolling they get annoyed.

Good place to test your 0-60 though.

Never been bothered by the left hand tunnel myself and as im on a 125 it's safer there anyway. Some of the idiots changing their minds late are ridiculous. Let's indicate but not bother to check my mirrors or the other lane at all. Mad

For those that may find it useful from the A2 junction(south of the river) to the first exit on the north side (Thurrock) is considered an A road and not a Motorway. Hence it can be ridden over on 'L plates', as I do regularly. Surprisingly the local Police didnt/dont seem to realise this, check the 60 speed limit for conformation, or an A-Z, the road is green.

Would be great fun if the tunnel was clear...I feel a 3am visit coming.

I rode through there listening to Orbital once, it was bloody surreal let me tell you.

3am, a BCF'r at every manned station, barrier raises, first out of the tunnel on the other end...

I'm game.

Me too. Though, I once did it and someone had dropped oil. Back wheel spinning up. Got a few thumbs up from passengers.

Well I went through it both ways, and I see what stinkwheel meant about the left lane, I used the right side of the left tunnel and it was pretty crowded with lorries.
In both directions I noticed that the guy in the toll both gave a hand signal for me not to follow the car through, I assume because he cannot stop the barrier coming down after the car passes through, so I just stopped and part way down it stopped and went up again and on you go. No problem, especially as its free Thumbs Up Karma
