Mirrors

I've had problems with the mirrors on my last two bikes. Not visibility but the fact that when every time you get up to a decent speed the hinge becomes loose allowing the mirror to swing backward out of position.

The more you correct it and move it back into position the looser the joint becomes and it seems impossible to tighten up the bolt sufficently to restore to original strenth.

It is just me or is this a common problem?

this can be a problem due to the vibration in the handlebars casing them to loosen, but can be solved by getting a strong thread lock and tighting them very firmly

Thanks, can you just clarify what you mean by strong thread lock? Is it just a term of tightness or an actual type of nut/bolt?

there are different types that have various degrees of strength, i think. best to go for one with a medium strength as if you bin the bike and screw the wing mirror it could be near impossible to get the wing mirror stub out with a 'perminant' thread lock
