i know this should probably be in 'new bikers', but the forum is empty.
What do you think of the gilera cougar 125 ?
ive seen one in the paper for £900, i think its 2002.
are they any good, i think they look quite nice.

Look good, are pretty damn cheap second hand and so long as you are sensible when it coems to looking after bikes, then I can't see how you'd have a problem.

Didn't have one myself, I had a kymco zing 125 (also good) but wanted a cougar. What do you want to know about it really? Most folk on here would say its crap and get an rs125, but they've jsut got too much money and little sense. Wink

60mph tops usually. Great mpg being a 125 4-stroke. Finish probably isn't as good as most jap learner bikes but if you know how to use wd40, then thats not a problem. Take a look at the kymco zing too. Very similar bikes but the zing is better.....in my eyes anyway Wink

Having looked at that picture though, I'd have to say you get more bike for your m,oney with a zing 125. Thumbs Up

He didn't ask what you thought he should buy.

He asked of any info/opinions you could give on the gilera cougar.

Some people do need reliability...a bike that won't get theives attention....one thats very cheap to run, easy to insure....etc etc. DT125 fails on all categories I'm afraid!

the DT does look good. I just thought the gilera was a cheap bike, but i would like to go a bit faster than 65 !!

If you want to go faster than 65 on a budget, then budget some money for your test. Razz

Anymore than 65 and you'd be wanting a 2T, which will probably cost you more to run (insurance, fuel, oil, running etc).

And no, that wasn't an invitation from 2T lovers to back up their love for their machines. I know some can run jsut fine and dandy but it's best to think about what could go wrong on a first bike, so you know what you can afford. Wink
