why did it cut out

hi
just been out for a ride and just as i was coming home i stoped at these traffic lights, i had to change down the gears real fast and as i came to a stop my bike cut out. also from time to time when am stoped at traffic lights the revs start to drop to about 1000rpm ( and sounds like its on the Edge of cutting out), normally its more like 1800/2000rpm. any suggestions ???? You did pull in the clutch lever when you came to a stop didn't you?

Laughing Razz I couldn't say mate, it could just be a problem with the Idle speed?
My nsr sometimes almost cuts out if the idle speed drops below about 1200.

Who's idle is too high?

Bikes cut out if their idle is too low, not if it is too high.

was it raining at the time? for some reason my old bike had a habit of cutting out when I came to a stop if it was raining Confused

2000rpm is a pretty hight idle speed? Most small bikes are around the 1300-1450 mark and big bikes can idle as low as 900rpm.

Could be some kind of carb issue, maybe crud in the carbs.

Should be around 1200 ish so chances are your mixture screws are out or the pilot jets are blocked and the idles been raised to hid it.

Lower the idle and see what happens.

Sounds stupid, but check you don't have the choke on.
I had the same problem, was gonna change the idle speed until noticing the choke was on when i thought it was off.
