Evening all...

Just been knocked off my bike Evil or Very Mad.

Was going to a local shopping centre when some PRICK, came across 3 lanes of traffic onto my side of the road. Tried to avoid him but as it was wet, the bike slid as I was braking and ended up wedged under the front of his car. Luckily it isn't /too/ bad, the front right hand side of the fairing is smashed, as is the screen, but the generator cover cracked open and pissed all the oil everywhere. I've got some pictures on my phone that I'm gonna try and upload soon.

Passed my test less than a week ago and this is what happens!

Evil or Very Mad

Yeah it was mate, I could of cried when I saw it wedged under his bumper. I was screaming at the bloke and kicking fuck out of his car door and he wouldn't get out, then he did and I was seriously considering landing one on him when the police turned up, as luckily they're stationed at the shopping centre (Lakeside if anyone knows it).

Well, my arm's hurting where I broke my arm last year and I've got a little cut on my leg but other than that I'm OK. He admitted it was his fault straight away, and claimed he didn't know where he was going, but then surely you take it easy and dont go into oncoming traffic...

At least they arrested him and they're doing him for dangerous driving.

Well then you can just sit back, heal up, get a nice payout and new bike. Wink

Good Thumbs Up

Now get yourself to hospital and checked out so at least it is on their files. As a result of his dangerous driving causing you injury you are entitled to compensation on top of the pay out for your bike.

Where you can see the silver BMW in the background is where he came from, and that's him stood next to the driver's door.

Bet that was a case of "Thick pillar in car, inducing a blind spot, hence rider could not be seen syndrome", heck, why the fuck was he heading in that direction on the right hand side of the road anyway? Confused

Wow, those are quality pics Thumbs Up. Most cell phone pictures I've seen are blurry and dark.

Anyhow, really don't see how anyone could've avoided that guy since it was a such an unpredictably stupid maneuver. Hope you get everything sorted soon, though the fairing is making me wince Neutral.

That junction is pretty dodgy. Loads of people (mainly fake tanned women in 4X4's) looking for parking spaces, pikey people in tuned (noisy anyway) car's hurtling around the roundabout and people not having a clue where theyre going.

People may think this is stereotyping, but for those that ride/drive round Lakeside you will know that it is valid.

At least he's admitted it's his fault (for now) should be a quick payout.

Very true Reuben, you dice with death every time you go round that roundabout.

Still cant work out how he managed to come across all those lanes and claim he didn't know where he was going.

The thing that really pisses me off, is that I was on my way home 'cos my double bubble screen had arrived and it's my dad's birthday today so I thought I'd pop in Lakeside (I go past that roundabout every day) and get him a card before I go round to his later.

And that's what happened Evil or Very Mad.

There was £1100 worth of damage to my bike after my spill. I had to pay £150 myself to stop them writing it off because they only pay a percentage of the value.

£1100 covered:

New fairings.
Paint.
Decals.
Genny cover.
Cltutch lever.
Gear lever.
etc.

I imagine your's in the same.

If they decide to write it off and you want to keep it, you can choose not to have certain things fixed to keep the costs down.

I reckon you'll be OK though. £1300 should be well enough. Thumbs Up

The main thing is that ur alright, and well you being alive after that is a nice present for your dad.
Shame it happened on the bad day.
If your bike is insured for only 1300 isnt that all you will get back?

Shame that was a nice looking zxr.

Glad ur alright!

Well, the generator cover was £82, and luckily it helps having an old man who's a dab hand at plastic welding fairings so he can sort that. I'll just bodge it together for now just to get me to work, until I can sort it properly.

If your bike is worth 1300 then you insure it for 1300... but... anymore than 60% (although this will vary depending on who you're insured with) worth of damage writes it off. Unless you pay the difference or leave cosmetic repairs out.

£1300 be the most.

(Gone so far of the point it's untrue)

Mad Typical idiot car driver! Really unlucky to hear about this, but glad you came out ok. The bike doesnt seem in too bad a state considering what its been through. Also a good thing the driver admitted liability, even better that the police have booked him for dangerous driving! Hopefully he'll learn from his own stupid mistakes and no one else will suffer similar or worse damages in the future.

Hope you get things sorted soon. Thumbs Up
