The place I'm currently working at is situated directly in the centre of nowhere with quite a few farms nearby and with the crappy weather we're having atm my bike's getting covered in shite every single day.

Being an SV it'll probably corrode into dust in a couple of weeks if I'm not careful so I've been trying to at least give it a rinse when I get back in each day. Just wondered, is it advisable not to rinse the bike down while it's still warm? Wouldn't want to risk the generator cover etc cracking on me with the combination of heat + cold water or are they tough enough that it's no problem?

No different than travelling in the rain really is it? Rain = Cold, revving engine = Warm. Confused

In my experience, shit and mud doesn't make your vehicle corrode. It is the winter salt that does that.

Ive been told that cold water staight after a rideout on the brake discs is especially bad as it may cause warpage. True or False?

Suppose it depends how hard you were using the brakes immediately before you parked up.

Snap you should see one of my discs... not really a big concern. Laughing

Given your profession Stinkwheel I'd imagine you're a pretty good authority on all things shit and muck so sod it - the bike stays mucky.

personally I never pressure wash the bike hot. Always do it first then take it for a spin to get rid of the standing water.
A rain shower isn't the same as pouring gallons of cold water into all the nooks and crannies. Rapid expansion/contraction can't be good for a bike.

I never use a pressure washer, liable to remove grease from bearings and stickers from fairings.
Good old fashioned elbow grease works a treat.
