iv phoned up a few companies in the past few days askin about an exhaust for my nsr as my one is al scratched up after my recent crash (which wasnt my fault) and now need a quote for one for insurance! Sad but they cant come up with anything other than a standard or an arrow racing system.

so does anyone know any other exhaust i can put on my nsr? or anywhere to get the knowledge about this subject?

thanks n take care

don,t bother with mild steel exhaust like arrow and jolly moto etc, they rust like hell and make very little extra BHP on a NSR. stick with a standard one.

lots of breakers have second hand NSR125R exhausts for about £40-50

You get street legal or race cans, different things.

On big 4 strokes, companies now do a removable baffle for 'race' pipes.

Some companies do do slightly louder system that are still legal, but these aren't near a race can. None do them for the NSR as far as I know.

Lots of people do run with race cans fine, I did for a while, but try not to these days for various reasons.

thanks for the replys, i was lookin for a race exhaust, somthin like an arrow or to that standard as they are carbon fibre equallying more power to weight ratio therefore better top end speed.
i would go for another honda exhaust but as iv had one on my bke since iv had my nsr its boring me now because its lack of power (and it isnt that exciting to look at)

you said you were getting a quote for insurance, your insurance policy will state that you do not have a performance exhaust, so you will probably have to quote for a standard one, as it it they are probably more expensive for the aftermarkets and hopfully the insurance compnay will just give u the money and you can buy what u want!

Have you passed your test?

If you haven't, I'd spend the money intended for this on your test.

If you have, then I'd consider looking at a bigger bike.

You can get a few hp out of a decent setup, but with the money spent you could probably get a much better bike one way or the other.

The extra power will be tiny (probably ~2hp) and the weight saving almost non existant (at the most 2kg for a carbon silencer, which is nothing compared to the ~200kg combined weight of the bike and rider).

You might get a slightly higher top speed, but probably only 2~3mph. Not to be sniffed at but not an earth shattering amount. Remember that you are almost certainly going to need to play with the jetting to get the exhaust to work properly.

All the best

Keith
