Hi all.
ok so i hadn't been on my bike in about a week (yes i know, im sorry) then i commuted to work and back last night no problem and decided to go and try and find the RnB place this morning to see the stalls for some new bike gear. anyway im shuttling along the chesterfield bypass when my bike starts spluttering and then completely stalls so i have to pull over. in coasting to pull over i figure its probably petrol so i turn the fuel tap then coast to the side of the road and push my bike up the kerb under a big overhead bridge. i look at the fuel tap and its in the ON position, meaning it must have been in reserve *gulp*. so i look in the tank and there is a bit of fuel and i lay the bike down on its side on the side of the fuel tap to try and get all the fuel over that side. still nothing so i take the spark out check spark check compression all ok and think it must be fuel. standing contemplating how the hell im going to get the 30 odd miles home i hear a *Beep*Beep* and look around onto the dual carriageway. a guy on a a big pan-european is coming down slowly and lifts his hand to me, i return with a gesture and he pulls in. now this guy after a little chat looks all round for ways to get fuel form his bike to mine as he has a full tank then after we couldnt do that he told me to push my bike up to the signpost a little down the way and he would lock it up so we did and he took me pillion to the nearest petrol station(about 10 minutes away i might add) were i buy a petrol can and fill it then we return up the carriageway spin round come back to my bike he unlocks it and i refuel. bike starts on the button and i shake his hand. now i have to say how cool this guy was, he was late 40s early 50s i would guess and the real kind of biker that has seen it all. as he was leaving he said "ill see you again" and i said "well hopefully not!!" and he just smiled and said "no, see you again" made me think "youve got a lot of learning to do yet young jedi". well just wanted to say how great it was of him to stop what a fantastic bloke a true upstanding gentlemen and a credit to all bikers..charley i salute you ____________________ Bah Humbug |
