Loads of asian shops hardware/ general stores sell it in Birmingham, 'cos they use it for portable heaters.

cna you get a rivet chain (no split link) off the bike, then on again? withiout taking the engine casing off?

You'd need to remove the wheel and the swinging arm to take it off in one piece.

You can if you have a chain splitting tool. They aren't cheap though (about 45 quid for a cheap one).

You don't need to take bits of the engine off (well, you need to take the little cover off the back of the engine but that is only usually four bolts). You would have to drop the swingarm out though.
