My girlfriend saved up for ages to buy herself some leathers, She paid about £270 for them in total. We were not expecting the best quailty but we did expect some quailty.

So far the Zip on the trousers broke, Took them back and it took them 2 weeks to fix them. Now the lining in the trousers has all come apart and the zip which holds the top and bottom together has broken. This is all in about 4months.

Very poor.

What particular clothing line are those trousers part of Dynamight? Question

My leathers are HG - last year's HGR two-piece suit - I've no complaint with them at all .. unlike my Alpinestar gloves!

I'm not sure, I cant find them on their terrible website.

Heres a pic of her in them though: https://www.bikepics.com/pictures/341866/

I think I'm gonna get my mother (best complainer in the world) to write a snotting letter to head office.

It maybe a bad pair, the jacket seems ok, It's just the trousers.

I bought HG leathers a while back, had to take the jacket back, so did my brother who bought HG at the same time. They are crap. Stiching unravels, zips break etc etc.
Won't be buying their stuff again.

Lol, yeah, the website is appalling Thumbs Down

Having looked at the pic, I recognise that suit - a couple of friends wear that particular gear, don't think they've had problems, though I will ask them as I'm interested now.

I don't think it's reasonable for HG to take so long to repair the faults either - if I had some trousers begin to fall apart and if I had a recent receipt (I'd call four months recent, assuming they've not been crashed in) I'd be mentioning the word "replacement" too. Good luck Thumbs Up

Recently bought some HG boots, about a month later the zip broke, bits n bobs were falling off, wasn't happy. Good job they have the 2 year HG guarantee. Took them 2-3 days to get a new pair in for me, noticed that it had better zips, so im guessing everyone was sending them back with broken zips.

My mate has that jacket, as the female jacket fitted him better, hes had it for ages and it's fine. So maybe just a bad batch like my boots.

I've got that jacket and it seems ok. Maybe more fasion than proper riding kit though....

However, i'm glad i spent more on the all in ones. HG stuff last well and if it doesn't they sort out new bits quickly. My fabric jacket is 5 yrs old and working fine.

I have that very suit, same colours and everything, and I've not had any problems with it at all! I do remember taking ages to decide whether to go with the slightly smaller or slightly larger size of trousers, and went with the slightly larger for comfort's sake!

But I'd recommend them to anyone Confused hmmmmm

The zip pocket in the jacket has broke and various parts of both the jacket and leather jeans stitching are falling apart on my £300 HG 2 piece suit that was brought 6 months ago which is only used at the weekends. The fabric bike jacket l purchased 2 years ago from them is fine with no problems and is used every single day.

Thats the first time Ive ever heard anything bad about HG!

All the gear Ive had has been spot on, with the exception of a snapped zip puller and they replaced that on the spot.

The best thing about them is that they are helpful. Go back and talk to them, tell them how you feel and I bet you get a new pair eventually Wink

I've only ever had Gericke leathers.

My first pair held up amazingly well when I hit a brick wall.. barely a mark on them.

The current pair were second hand and used for racing, they've been crashed in a few times on a GSXR750 and only have a few marks.. quality and fit, comfort etc is very good I think.

No complaints about my HG leathers. Binned in them with no damage, no trouble with the zip or the fittings and believe me, I stress them a bit as I'm fond of the pies.

Had a two-piece HG PSX-tII suit.. binned it big stylee, and had them cut off me by the paramedics. Split pelvis, and crushed wrist as some of you may know, but that's hardcore impact damage and there';s not a lot you can do about that.

other than that, not a scratch nor bruise on me. They held together and protected me as expected.

The HG boots also survived, almost to the point of being useable. I know many people who have ahd HG stuff that's lasted very well under heavy usage, I also know of the occasional instance where stuff has had faults.

Then again, I also know of many people with Dainese stuff, most of which is fine, except for the occasional fault.

I know of as many issues with any manufacturer, and don't think any are particularly better than others. HG do, on average, give very good value for money.

but you're entitled to your opinion (as am I ).

Those leathers are soo common now!

HG leathers didn't do as well as they used to in the latest ride tests.

Hmm, yes, I read that too - I was a bit surprised to be honest, as I bought my (HGR) leathers in 2003 on the strength of them getting a good test report in RiDE - performing better than Alpinestars (and other) gear that was twice the price (mine were £400) at the time .... Neutral

My HG leather trousers are going to have to go back for repairs for a second time now. Initially the zip on them went after a couple of months, now the stitching holding the waistband onto the leather is coming apart, and the zip feels like it might go again soon. I really like the fit and design of the trousers, and the service in the (York) shop is great, but I'm not sure I'd buy another pair of HG branded trousers again. I don't seem to have much luck with my kit though, as the soles on my Sidis are starting to come away at the front on both boots after 6 months and I can't really understand why as I never walk far in them or scrape my toes on the floor when riding.

Dunno about trousers, but I've had a hein gericke leather for a few years; I used it everyday to go to work and for about a year used it
when I was a courier. Never had a problem, still looks good after cleaning, and it's still intact.

I've just bought myself a whole set of Hein Gericke Stuff! Sad Didn't get leathers as I'm going to be riding all year round and I'm on a CG... so I was advised textiles, so I've got a lovely warm jacket with a zip off mouthpiece, some trousers that zip on (both textiles) to the jacket, some HG waterproof gloves with knuckle armour and some waterproof boots with hiprotect armour!

They're all very comfy at the moment but I only got them on Saturday (My first lot of bike kit! Very Happy) so I shall report back if the quality is still bad!

I've had a Belstaff leather jacket and a Dainese leather jacket and within a year of buying them, the little zipper handles at the cuffs have broken. I just replaced them with keyrings. Looks kinda cool, and they certainly wont break. Bought a pair of Dainese leather pants and 2 days later the stitching that holds the zip at the front started to come away. Took them straight back. I aint paying £300 for a pair of pants with crap stitching.

HG have changed their suppliers fairly recently, I have always had their winter kit but, when I bought the last lot, the styles have changed for the worse. Smaller cuffs, crap waist band fixings and the sizes have shrunk. I mentioned all this to the HG manager and he said that they have a new contractor supplying their kit.

I've never had the leathers but the missus has the tribal ones and they seem good, a mate is on his third set (he keeps crashing) and swears by them.

Cheers

Grim
