Just wondering if its possible to find out like who owns a bike you once owned by contacting someone?

I'm intrigued to find out where a few of my previous bikes are, and tempted to buy one or two of them back.

Just wondering if anyone has traced an old bike back or something?

I think you can pay a small fee and find this out, but don't quote me! May be worth asking at your post office or contacting DVLA.

I bet if you found a bent copper they could get the details for you. Very Happy Not sure how you would find one though, maybe stop each one you see and say "'Scuse me, are you a bent copper?" although most probably won't take too kindly to this.

I'm not sure if you can trace previous owners - but you can trace current owners through DVLA.

You can obtain the name and address of the registered keeper of a vehicle if you can show reasonable cause for needing the information.

Members of the public will need to complete form V888. Companies can either complete form VQ3 or apply in writing giving full details of the reason for the enquiry and the vehicle registration mark. Both forms are available from DVLA.

The fee for information at a specific date of event is £2.50 per vehicle. If further information is required, for instance, a copy of a document or additional keeper information, a fee of £5 is required per vehicle.

Send your application to: Vehicle Record Enquiries, Vehicle Customer Services, DVLA, Swansea SA99 1AJ.

I wonder how the DVLA, from the case of a private individual, would determine reasonable cause ???

I mean you could say:

I was involved in an accident last week and this kind hearted motorist stopped and called an ambulance for me and made sure I was alright. So I'd like to personally say thank you for saving my life, so could I please have their address details?

Which actually translates as:

This prick tried to run me off the road last week. So I've got his reg. number and I want to go round to his house, slash his tyres, shit in his garden and piss in his letter box. Very Happy
