Bike got knocked over

Excuse me while I have a bit of a rant.

Last night I went to a party and some little fuckwit knocked my bike over. I don't think there is any real damage to the bike - I will have to go look in a bit because I got a cab home and left the bike there.

The worst bit is that it fell into my mate's car. A fucking Audi of all things and it is dented and scratched. Going to cost a fucking fortune to sort out. Looks like I might have to get my insurance company involved Thumbs Down

Goodbye No Claims. Might have to be be goodbye bike Sad

With a claim against my insurance I'm gonna be fucked come renewal time.

Now excuse me while I go and kill someone.

Do you know who did it?
if its a mates car, yeah hes going to pissed but if its not your fault surely he wouldn't make you claim off you insurance.
how bad is the damage? if you post some pics maybe someone could comment on how much it may cost to sort out, may be less in the long run to pay out of your own pocket! Evil or Very Mad

theirs gotta be a law about this, if your bike was securely stood where you parked it (make sure theirs no defects in your sidestand that they could use as an excuse) and you weren't their when it was knocked over just deny it. If it's parked safe you can't be responsible for someone else touching your property without your permission.

Yeah it was a mate's car so we agreed to get some quotes to get it fixed without getting insurance involved obviously.

Got a bad feeling about it - scratched/dented more than one panel. Going to have a look in a bit now that it's light and I'm sober(ish).

Not going to be able to find who did it because the spineless fucker who did it didn't tell anyone of course, which is probably for the best because I was drunk and would not have taken the news well.

Oh well, no good moaning about it anymore.

I know if you have an accident with an uninsured driver you can still try to make a claim through some insurance body (MIB?). Is there any possibility you could make a claim for this, if you had a 'witness' who saw somebody reverse into your bike and drive away?

The guy there Ian is cool and will be able to sort you something out really cheap. Take this for example. My firends sisters mate crashed her car. TBH I can't see why you're paying out for the damage. It was neither your nor his fault.

E.G If two bikes had been parked up and you came back to find them both damaged and lying on the floor as someone had pushed one into the other would the owner of the 'pushed' bike be liable?

I would only pay for the damage to your bike mate. Tell him to pay for his own car. Its not your fault imo unless you parked your bike in an unsafe manner i.e slope orsidestand not down correctly that should cause you to pay for his car.
