Is there any benefit to fitting bigger than standard tyres to a bike? Confused
I ask because mine has 120/70/17 front and 140/70/17 rear. The rear is standard, although I'm being told to fit 150, because I can, and the front should be 110. What do I get from fitting 120 front and 150 rear?

Apart from more rubber Smile

just noticed the profiles should be 80 as original spec, so what do i gain going to a lower profile?

Marki

More rubber = more grip at the cost of slower steering. Check that the larger rear would clear your swingarm if you're thinking of upsizing.

Generally it will balls up the handling. If you want more grip buy stickier tyres.

The profile of a tyre squeezed onto a rim that is too small will be different from what the manufacturer intended and could be so different as to be dangerous.

Personally I wouldn't bother. Smile

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.
