ive just been practising for my theory test.
apparently you are not allowed to have a pillion passenger as a learner EVEN IF they have passed their test.
has this always been the case ?

L = no pillion.

except for one bizarre thing to do with sidecars and learners, way back in the dim and distant past.

Up to 1990, you could take a pillion on L plates if they had a full licence.

ok then.
its just that when i had my XL 125. years ago. my brother reckoned i could give him lifts to the pub/shop etc because he had passed his test.
i think i see what was happening now Smile

My mum had a full licence but my dad didnt.

So they had a 125 with L plates, my dad rode it and my mum pillion they allways got stopped by police and mum had to show her licence due to the L plates.
