Courtesy bike?

Hi all,

Might be a stupid question but is there such a thing as a courtesy bike? My bike seized nearly two weeks ago now and might not be ready until late next week, and it's my only form of transport. I was just wandering if anyone has ever been offered a courtesy bike as a tempory replacement?? It's an RS125 by the way.

There is such a thing, but I'd doubt you'd get one as you are under 25 (I'm assuming?) and most dealerships/garages don't have insurance cover for under 25s.

Is it a main dealer the bike is at? or just a local garage?

You could always ask, but I reckon at best you'd be handed the keys to a 50cc scoot

My Daytona 600's is being repaired at the moment after I caused £2ks worth of damage. I've got a Speed 4 to play with in the mean time. I'm 19.

On my bikes first service I was given a CBF500 as a lone bike for my 4k service I was given a Deauville for the day.

But that’s getting a new bike serviced at the dealers I bought it from. I though it was good getting a CBF500 for the day when the first service only cost me £7 for oil.

Totally down to the bike shop. It is a courtesy bike. Generally the only places that will have them will be those who are charging enough to cover the costs (and the more they charge, the better the courtesy bike you will probably get).

A friend of mine received a courtesy bike off Norman and Birch in hanley, he's 18, they gave him an rs50 then asked for it back and gave him an nsr, he sent the nsr down the road. He gave it back and they didn't say much to him, he didn't have to pay for it either. They took ages rebuilding the bike he had in and i don't think he was insured to ride the nsr hence why they didn't say anything to him.

I got a Triumph ST (8000mls c/w warranty) with a fu(ked starter. No offer of rental/courtesy or owt. And a four day repair.
I wasn't offered nowt either.
The heap was lifted by bike van so no chance to press my case with the dealer.
Might get her back today.
I would have demanded a loaner if I'd known they were going to take so long to fit a starter. Hope I never need a service.

Well the whole job is being done under warranty, so I doubt they'l throw in a courtesy bike. Im just very pi**ed off. From the start it has been nothing but hassle. The service manager was on holiday so I had to wait a week, till he got back. I've been lied to on several occasions, saying the parts were on order when they were'nt, and it's really getting to me that nearly 2 weeks later im still without a bike!!

I shall be writing a strongly worded letter to Aprilia about how disatisfied I found the service!!

What have you asked them to do anything or is it just telling them that you're dissatisfied?

From the start they have lied to me ( telling me parts were on order when they were'nt) and it has taking almost 3 weeks to sort the situation out. Never once received an apology or expected date of completion. It might be a seized engine but it does'nt take this long to sort it out surely!
