RGV 250?

Hi i have found an rgv 250 for 895 and was woundering what these bikes are like to ride?

They look really nice , whats the overall performance like?

Never been on one but i know they are fuck fast. The rs250 does something like 0-60 in 3.1 Shocked

and 150 top speed. RGV has the same motor i think.

Prone to blowing up if not treated properly so aslong as it has been rebuilt or looked after then should be ok.

Look wicked too. Wink

If you're into light bikes with a powerband then you'll love it if not you wont.
It looks like an M model to me if so you'd better budget almost the cost again for the engine rebuild when the powervalves kamakazi themselves into the pistons Shocked

I reckon they're great bikes to ride and make you feel great when you keep them on the boil but they are quite fragile so beware of old dogs in wolfs clothing.
On the performance front they're about as quick as a 400 maybe a little bit down on top end but keep them in the power in the twisties and you'll keep with anything Very Happy

I bought an RGV a few weeks back with plans to track it, but instead I sold it on yesterday. Used it a few times and the power is awesome. As soon as you hit 8000rpm, the bike just screams and rockets ahead, twice as quick as an RS125 as I like to see it. Smile

Its vital that the pistons/rings are replaced every so many thousand miles and the standard powervalves on the VJ22 (possibly the VJ21 as well) have a tendency to crumble and take out the top end. A set of Dave Cooper custom valves will cost around £500, not cheap, but no more expensive than a set of authentic suzuki valves.

Either way, they're great bikes to ride when they're running perfect. Neglecting them will only mean an expensive repair bill, which we all know is not fun at all.

I'll probably buy another one next year. Thumbs Up

Hi

Original road tests had them doing around 130mph. In theory the RS250 engine is a slightly tuned version of the RGV250 engine.

Performance wise they go well and seem reliable if you keep on top of the maintenance. However most people don't and on a 10+ year old cheap bike you do not know what has been done.

Personally I would love one for occasional fun, but not for everyday use.
