buy the biggest, baddest, fastest bike and then ride it like a complete noob?

I can't remember the amount of k5 gsxr1000's i've seen with the biggest chicken strips i have ever seen and then ride very slowly everywhere (even on NSL roads ). where they would probably be faster and have more fun riding a less powerful bike, so why don't these people buy a less powered bike and learn to ride it first as in my opinion they are not doing that bike justice,as i'd rather learn how to ride my bike faster instead of buying a faster bike Eh?

if they have the cash, why shdnt they buy the best bike available ? Its probably a lot cheaper than a sports car.

Ive enjoyed my time on my rs125 but if i had the cash, doing a DAS and getting a big bike straight away wd be good in a different way.

If they ride like noobs, its probably cos they are noobs just with a flash bike. People have porsches that never get driven fast, so why not fast bikes ?

Id have more of a problem if they were overconfidant and got in situations they couldnt handle.

Its good for us cos the more of them that buy big bikes, the more other 2nd hand bike prices drop making 2nd hand big bikes more affordable for those with less cash.

I was on a ride recently with 4 rs125s, a zxr750cc and a cbr125. The guy on the cbr125 was the best rider. Not all good riders feel they have to get a bigger bike even if they could.

It true tho that a noob will struggle a bit on a bigger bike and wd find it easier on a smaller one. The guy with the 750 was fine on the move but manouevering around the car park or on the petrol station was a bit of a struggle for him as he'd only had it 2 days. Nearly dropped it is a bit of an exaggeration, but its not far off. Didnt stop him telling us how he is one of the people who are 'born to ride' tho.

I would say that its safer to do 60 mph on an rs125 than on a cg125, and the same applies up the scale, so i think 100mph would be safer on a 600cc or a 1000cc simply because they are designed to be stable at speed.

They do because they can. They might also care more about what other people think of them and expect of them than being happy with whatever themselves are doing, but who cares? So long as they aren't coming around blind corners on the wrong side of the road or being tits, I've no problem with them.

The guy on the CBR125 was the best rider because he had to be, else he'd have been left behind absolutely everywhere.

Because it's still a relatively free country.

Can mister Doctor squeeze every last drop of performance out of his CBR? Me thinks not.

Must be a 'Boy-Racer' ego type of thing this (apologies to all you lady bikers too - it's just a coin of phrase).

I'm an old(ish) bloke in these forums. I ride my bike because I love riding my bike. And I have no intentions of burning off all the rubber just to prove I've got no chicken strips. It wouldn't bother me if I had them across the whole tyre.

I don't have a large, powerful bike myself, but what I ride is quite suitable for me and my stature. Maybe these other bikers ride their own bikes for the same reasons.

Now't wrong with that, I think Wink

I'd do it just to annoy the pikey "riding gods".

"When detained, the accused had chicken strips a mile wide and was observed to be riding in the style of a noob, yeronner. I advised him of his rights and instructed him that he would be reported for riding in a manner likely to cause offence to sundry BCF members. I issued him with an order to produce his Performance Bike subscription at his local police station within seven days"

A quote from my other half.

"It doesn't have to be fast to be fun".

Get your head out of your arse Doctor - whatever their reason is for wanting a particular bike it's their reason, and nothing to do with you. Maybe they just like the colour scheme? Razz How they ride it is nothing to do with you either.

Riding a bike is about more than just balls-out speed, once you learn that you'll probably be a better rider too.

mmm I had a GPZ500 for about 6 months then got my ZX6. I know I cant ride the ZX6 like a racer but the theory is to gradually learn and improve over time.

Ride sensibly, only caning it when its safe to do so.

And it sounds lush, and frankly, I look fucking cool hehehe

Look at the number of people that post 'whoa, cool bike' when some one puts up a picture of their latest shiny bike. So, it seems that there are plenty of people that do give others respect for a bike based on it's looks.

You could look at it this way - the people that buy expensive new bikes and hardly ride them are providing an excellent market of cheaper second hand bikes in good nick for everyone else Smile.

Plenty of people do seem to enjoy the status symbol more than the riding, if that's what makes them happy and they've got the money to spend <shrugs> (though it won't stop me trying to convince people to buy bikes for riding Smile ).

Nex zx10 is smaller than the latest zx6 I believe.

The GSXRs are all about the same size.

There was a 6'4" minimoto champion - I'm a tad under 6' and quite enjoy riding my rs250 which is fairly small.

Maybe the fella in question was fucking good at wheelies and stoppies hense a litre bike?

Just to add to the many other possibilities outlined in this thread.

I used to look at people's knee sliders to see if they are quick riders. Turns out that at snetterton, in the fast group there were very few people with scuffed sliders!

A bit of 80-grit sandpaper works wonders for scuffing knee sliders and removing chicken strips Shocked

Finding the limits of a bike is often very painful and on occasion fatal. I want to know that the limits of the bike are well beyond my own so I'll probably never find them.

I've had the pegs down on my bike and topped it out at 192 on the clock but only very rarely. It's nice to know it's all there if I need it though.

And one thing your forgetting. Some of you lot paid more for your 125's and 400's than I paid for a Blackbird.

The up side of being an old tvat Very Happy Thumbs Up

no one is gonna believe me if i say i kept up with a guy on a zxr750 on my rs125. They will quote specs at me and say there is no way an rs125 can keep up with a zxr750. But it happened as the guy has had the bike 2 days and nearly drops it at petrol stations.

But a slow r1 rider can be overtaken by an rs125 rider and think how good the rs125 owner will feel. For that reason alone I think more rich ppl shd buy big bikes and ride them slowly
