I would be seriously interested in some "Biker Jeans" Thumbs Up

Would also like to know how effective they are in an accident, and what they are like for wind / weather protection (if they help at all)
Also do you look like an idiot walking around town in them because they are realy big or anything?

As you can tell i havent realy looked into this in any great detail, so any inputs usefull Laughing Thumbs Up

If they're as good as a normal (Cordura) textile, then they're pretty damned good.

I like the idea of getting armoured jean and I'm sure their abrasion resistance is good, but I am more worried about my jacket riding up my back in a slide because the jeans can't be zipped into the jacket.

Someone on here showed a picture of gravel rash on their arm just because their jacket sleeve rode up. Would be much worse over the whole back. Confused

Is there not a crotch strap fitted to your jacket?

Instigator has a pair IIRC.

They look pretty normal but they do have a little extra stiching around the knee.

I have 2 pairs of Draggin Zip-off trousers, which I used for short trips when I was in France, although haven't used them as much here. Comfy, the kevlar lining adds a little bulk, and also helps with warmth and wind protection.

I can recommend draggin, although they are a touch neat waist wise, but they are already quite high waisted, which makes them a bit strange by themself, but you don't see the high waist under a t-shirt etc, and it does help withy protection if your jacket rides up.

Another make I can recommend is Hood Jeans, a UK company, where Draggin is Australian (i think)

I spoke to the guy at hood after a recommendation, and while they didn't stock zip-offs, and didn't do cargo pants in the colour I wanted, he did say "and we don't have enough aramid left to do you a one off".. top marks for effort, and I know enough people who rate Hood stuff quite highly, so can definately recommend them.

a
(either DuPont or 3M that own the Kevlar name, but it's basically just a brand of Aramid)

I wasn't that impressed with the Giali stuff..

I had a look at it at the NEC, and the kevlar didn't cover as big an area within the clothing as the other brands, and it didn't seem to be stitched in all areas too.

I'd go with Draggin or Hood.

I have a pair of hood jeans and a pair of draggin cargo pants. I'm pretty Impressed with both of them. I think the hood ones would be better in a crash, as they are thicker (and denim) however my draggin ones look better and are much cooler for wearing during summer. My hood ones also have knox armour in them, though it is a bit bulky and is noticeable as it makes you look a bit daft if your not on a bike with them!

I got a pair of kevlar lined jeans from J&S in Watford for £40.
They are just like normal jeans, except they weigh a bit more and theres extra stitching (as mentioned before) just round the knee.

They look like normal jeans, are as comfortable as normal jeans and at the price, just the same value as a pair of Levi's.

They have now found their way into my normal clothing collection, and as my normal jeans wear out I will be systematically replacing them with the kevlar lined ones... Thumbs Up

As for protection, I wouldn't know, as I have not tried them, and I really don't want to if I can help it. Rolling Eyes

I have a pair of Kevlar Draggin Jeans and theyre pretty good, extremely comfortable, and I believe them to be good enough in a crash- Though havent tested.

With regards to your jacket "riding up" your back, I dropped my bike whilst wearing a very baggy leather jacket (not zipped to my pants), and slid along on my stomach backwards, and the jacket didnt move?

I dont know how, as this was a high speed front-end lowside, perhaps as high as 50mph.

I think the jacket "crumpled up" so much as it rose up that it kept my stomach 2-3 inches off the ground or something? Anyway my point is I wouldnt worry about it.

I have some hood jeans. Very good they are. Crashed in them a couple times, the kevlar prevents a road/skin interface.
