Scariest moment in 5 years of riding happened yesterday.
I was riding down the dual carriage way from work at about 40-50mph, chilling out, coming down a slight hill to a set of lights when a GSX 1000 went passed me doing 70+. Stones and dirt went into my lid (I had it open Mad ) a bit miffed he tried shitting me up I pulled up next to him. I nodded, I couldn’t be arsed with confrontation, we set off from the lights and he pulled over to the left so I could pass.
I passed and gunned it I thought I’d just outride him as he looked like a plank Razz Thumbs Up , I came up to the S bend, I over took a car on the cheverons barley missing it’s wing mirror, yanked it over the other way and took another car still on the very outside Twisted Evil . Looking in the mirror I saw the Gixxer wasn’t playing, he didn’t fancy chancing it with me. Middle Finger
I was on the long straight now, the lights were green so I gave it all I could (no idea why), as I reached 80-90+mph my lid caught the wind!!! Shocked Thumbs Down
The part that covers your mouth was now inline with my eyes, I was blind, doing close to 95mph I only thought of bracing myself for impact of the curb. I let go of the throttle and gave it a little brake while looking downwards and forward to see about half a meters road in front of me.
I managed to pull the lid down, I was shaking, I was very lucky it was a straight road ahead, I was in the right lane passing cars on the left.

Note to self: Always do your fucking lid up properly.
Doh!

Can't criticise as I'm sure my riding has worried car drivers in the past.

I didnt do up my lid properly last night on the way back from keiths house.

Was trying to make it home in good time (23 miles in less than 15 mins)

It was slightly loose on the chin strap so was lifting a bit.

was riding at XXXmph with my mouth open to keep my lid down.

I should be ok from now on, my strap hasn’t got Velcro I don’t really do it up tight. Rolling Eyes
As for the style of riding before said incident, it was all in the name of science.

What IS worrying, is the fact that it's taken this guy so long to get it into his head that Helmets aren't just there for show. A mis-fitting helmet can be worse than no helmet at all. You could quite easily break your neck if it's not fastened properly.

note to killa, dont get competitive on the road and always ride with your visor down (if its scratched or broken, get another one)

if you dont fasten your helmet you might as well not bother wearing one

imagine if the helmet had been see through and all those road users coulda seen your face as you passed them!!!!!!!!
