What helmet?

Im looking for a new helmet, as at the moment i have a crosser helmet which wont look very good on a sports bike, also its rather cheapy and i want something with that little bit extra to protect me when i step up to a bigger bike. I have up to £200 to spend. Can any one give me any idea on what would be a good lid to have. I have been looking at the agv stealth helmets, can any one give me an info on them.

i have a nitro one, cost me £140quid, really superb helmet, really light, very good at reducing noise and extremly compfortable, and mine came with a 2 clear visors and a black one.

i cant fault it

A mate of mine picked up a Shoei XR1000 for that kind of money, got a free pinlock visor with it as well. Quality crash helmet, and from what I hear it's comfy and quiet.

The one that fits you best.

A good-fitting cheap helmet will give you better protection than a poorly-fitting expensive one.

Forget make, colour or style for now. Try on as many as you can, find out what size you are in the various makes and how comfortable they feel. Then ask for opinions re wind noise, durability etc. Then decide.

I have an AGV GP PRO which I picked up for about £200 and I would not recomend that any one buy's one, it is noisy as hell.
On the other hand my missus has a HJC and she loves it well worth the money and they got a good right up in MCN.

Despite what Russ has said, I've heard quite a few good things about AGV's line. Word has it that Skorpion makes a good helmet as well. No complaints about my own KBC VR-1 other than it's monstrous outer appearance and the missus likes her Racer 1 just fine.

G'luck. Choosing a helmet can be tough.

can recommend HJC for value for money.

£130 for the FG14 I have, QR visor, completely removeable lining, and QR chinstrap, rather the double D-rings.

Looks rather good to imho.

AGV's I found tend to let in more wind noise than other makes.

I had a HJC and it was an excellent bargain lid, really good quality, very comfy. I still use it as my pillion lid. I only got a new one cos it was over 4 years old.

Also, the replacement i got was a Caberg Justissimo £160. Flip-up front, flip-down shades, quick release strap, good vents. Only downside is its a little heavy and the wind noise is a little loud. Excellent lid.

Hmm.. I'm outta this league I think. I've got a KBC TK8, cost £90 but hasn't let me down yet. Mind you, I don't go bombing about on motorways or anything.. might have to invest at some point

Caberg all the way! The V2 is good, and the outer visor is scratch and fog resistant. The justissimo flip front also got best on test in MCN last time round.

i also have a kbc vr1, i hear there a american firm very safe in lid terms my local dealer swears they will go up to the 3to4 hundred quid marker in a few years its a new firm and i been told the inner is kevlar based same as bullet proof vests they just arnt reconized over here yet but big in america. im happy with mine a little noisey but fine tbh 160 quid very smart just do a search and c wat designs u like.

Well i got one, it wasnt 200 pound either.
I went to the local bike shop and all arai's and shoei's ect were like 300 pound.
Firstly i saw a nitro in matt black that was reduced, but they didnt have my size. Then this baby caught my eye.

The caberg v2 race helmet. What can i say it fits really well, like i was advised by people. It only set me back £100 pound which isnt really what i wanted but its alot better then my previous helmet. The sound proofing means i can hardly hear my bike, and i get no wind noise.

And the best bit the flip down blacked out visor is brilliant. Only problem is the blacked out one will steam up, but the main visor doesnt even try. But ill get some washing up liquid on the black one which will sort it out i hope.

Rating from me is 9/10.
