As of the past few months ive found MCN to be going downhill, it just seems to be full of shit all the time, and at its current price its hardly cheap, considering about 60% of the thing is made up of the bike sales insert.

Totally agreed. I've been reading for about a year now, and the "news" is just becoming sensationalist crap. The "investigation" entitled "Bikers are worse than chavs" is an excellent example. If you read it, it's a hilariously full of holes bag o' crap.
Same for the article on ASBOs a while back and they were so stoked that you could get a driver done for irresponsible driving. All well and good, but they utterly missed the point that ASBOs are going to be hitting bikers (noise, aggressive overtakes, filtering etc.) far more often than the drivers Rolling Eyes Poor.

its been poo since I started buying it back when I first bought my 125.

I have bought it from time to time, but it never holds my interest for longer than an hour or so.

Bike, Ride and PB are all superior reads, although Ride has gone downhill (being a bit too patronising) and PB doesn't know what the hell its doing these days.

I know I'm in a minority, but I'll just stick to BiKE.

I work in a petrol station that stocks it, so on the late shift I just pick a copy up, read through it to kill an hour or so then put it back at the end of the night. I find its not the best of reads, but some articles are quote good, especially the racing reports on WSB, BSB and MotoGp towards the back.

The adverts are just annoying though, they seem to be everywhere!

I definitely wouldnt pay for it, but its the only bike related magazine in the shop so I have to make do. Mr. Green

aye i've usually bought Bike, Two Wheels Only and MCN..

i'll buy MCN every other week or less and usually buy Two Wheels Only all the time. Don't like Bike much as all the mags seem to be pretty much the same, i just like the way TWO is written.

MCN's still alright though, but i wouldn't but it every week.

Used to subscribe to RiDE Magazine, loved it! Thought the reviews were awesome and formed 90% of my purchasing decisions regarding kit.
Been out the biking scene for a couple of years now but have bought Bike and T.W.O, the latest RiDE mag looked a bit... thin!

I do buy the MCN occasionally but I also hate how many adverts are in it!

I find Back Street Heroes and Streetfighters much more entertaining reads.

MCN has been https://thehalloffarts.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/.pond/long-turd.jpg.w300h316.jpg for a LONG time...

I get T.W.O. and RiDE

Bike's well written, but the content is a bit samey.

I find RiDE's content is cyclic and samey. They do the same reviews each year so not a lot changes. Well, except one year something's great and the next, without it changing or the competition improving, it's not worth buying (makes me think if the advertising revenue is tied into a good review) Confused Rolling Eyes

However, knowing that I do look at the covers to see what they're doing. I'm also probably swayed by something useful being given away free.

I've read T.W.O. and if I can find somewhere that stocks it I'd probably go for that one. As a bit different reading material I did look through Motorcycle Voyager once and it's a different look on biking.

Since when was MCN hosted by Tripod?? Wink Laughing

The MCN discussion has appeared on a couple of other forums I use too and the general consensus is the same... Sad

I stopped buying it ages ago.

I agree MCN is getting a bit shite, have read it for years and at £170 its not cheap, I only buy it if I am buying a bike or there is an article inside that is of interest.

RIDE = I haven't read it much but i doesn't seem that good

TWO = is a bit piss poor, I was reading an article by some female journalist reviewing a CBR 600 and one of her comments was "I just dont bother to run in bikes there is not point"

Hum....technically informative and helpful writing there my love, really pissed me off. We dont have the chance just to use bikes as we please then hand them back !

Bike for me...well written with good photography !

MCN at £1.70 a week is way too expensive. You junk 60% of it when you throw out the bikemart section. Quite like reading the sport reviews but still wouldn't persuade me to buy it just for that. And as for the N part of MCN, well the last one I read dedicated two whole pages to some designer at Ford who was into bikes and had drawn a few sketches of his ideal bike. MCN claimed this was Ford now going to go into the bike market with some super high-tech motorbike! Shocked

I buy RiDE magazine. Out of all of them it covers the most normal stuff. Not loads of reviews of "What's the best 1000cc sports bike?" which I'm fed up of seeing.

PB and T.W.O seam alright although I've not read many copies of them. Superbike magazine is like a combination of FHM and Max Power a few years ago!

Hi

Over the years bought loads of magazines. Used to buy pretty much every bike magazine. I do get MCN every week, although tend to ignore a lot of the road tests. Tend to browse through the bikes for sale, sometimes read the race results, read the news section (mentally editing out the sensationalism).

RiDE I quite like. PB many years ago was really good. Mid 1990s they seemed to get proud of how many test bikes they had managed to right off that month and it got a bit rubbish. Improved a bit over the last few years but not sure about the latest format.

Bike magazine is pretty good. Difficult to think given its sensible image these days that it used to be one step to the side of BSH in its style.

TWO seems OK, but tend not to buy it. Nab my fathers old copies of it when he bothers to buy one.

Superbike varies. Currently seems to be aimed at those who want to odd bit of bike adorning the boobs they are looking at.

All the best

Keith
