i've done nothing... went round the shop to get some chain lube, and try and find a cheap torque wrench

Ignore it for as long as possible, until they hassle me into doing something, ask G.  Then probably do the bare minimum because I'm lazy.
That's not to say people should feel reluctant to lend me their bikes though, have brorrowed Bendy's many times without crashing.

I wouldnt go through the insurance, because that wouldnt realy be favourable for either party. Not only for the whole claims thing, but the hassle that is involved, and questions that may be asked in certain peoples situations 
If it was another member of a forum that i visit, or someone that i knew personally... then i would prefer to sort it out face to face, without the insurance hassle. Although if he was a tit, i would blatently screw his no claims over
