what do they expect you to bring to the theory?

I have a car licence but I didn't think you could even get a bike provisional like you do with cars.

Your car license has provisional bike entitlements too.

good good, was worried for a sec. What does someone who doesn't have a car licence do? I've never heard of a bike provisional do they mean cbt? because technically the cbt is a provisional I suppose (it's not a test/exam anyway according to the dsa)

I thought your car license was only a provisional bike license if you asked for it when you applied for it?

However, in your case gimpy you should be OK as I am assuming your license was checked when you did your CBT.

Good luck with your test, you just need to take your appointment card, and both parts of your driving licence.

You may want to edit the picture and block your home address out of it.

Have a look at your counterpart driving licence. You need to have category A in the "Provisional entitlemant" section.

my car licence is only a category B i think. I've never heard of a bike provisional it's not like you can go riding after just doing your theory. I haven't done my cbt yet either that's a week thursday (haven't been able to afford it until now after spending all my money on the bike.

20quid 50 down the drain. Crying or Very sad (grrr no angry faces in the emoticons thingy on the left)

How do I get a provisional? not wasting 95 quid if I can't get it before a week thursday. So annoyed. They shouldn't let you book it without asking if you have a provisional.

actually I think I might be safe:

https://motorbike-insurance.themovechannel.com/guide/tips-1.asp

"The provisional license
To ride a motorcycle on the road you must have a provisional license. This requires you to:

Be at least 17 years old (16 for a moped)
Have a driving licence which allows you to ride motorcycles (catagory A)

That licence can be any of the following:

A provisional driving licence with motorcycle entitlement
Full car licence. This automatically provides provisional motorcycle entitlement
Full motorcycle licence
Full moped licence. This provides automatic provisional motorcycle entitlement if you're aged 17 years or over "

Look on the counterpart licence! (see my picture) you should have category A in the provisional part, otherwise you could be having problems doing your test and have been riding illegally without a licence.

The guy that did your CBT should not have let you on the road without it, they are supposed to check.

You can get a provisional bike licence by the way, you tick a box to "include motorcycles" when you apply for your provisional and it arrives with category A on it. The motorcycle provisional (on a provisional licence) used to only last for three years after which they took it off you for a year to prevent people just riding a 125 indefinately on L plates. I'm not sure if they still do this.

I don't think the system would let you book a test if you weren't licenced for it though.

Just tried booking a test for something I haven't got provisional entitlement for and I get the following

Quote:

You are not entitled to take or are not required to take the test you selected. For more information, please contact the Call Centre on 0870 600 0067 or email Customer Care at customercare@pearson.com.

/edit Just read that test fees are increasing again! £21 to do your theory and £55 to do your practical.

That's true I remember when I booked it online them asking for my car licence and I assumed it was just to add bkes to it once I pass (send me a new card with a little bike picture next to the car and trailer pictures on the back of it Twisted Evil ). Must be alright if it's been processed. Only other problem I have now is that I can't seem to find the stupid counterpart, can only find the card part. I've produced documents to the police a few times with just this card part so i'm not sure if they'll make a fuss.

You will most definitely need both parts of your licence to take the test.

woohoo Twisted Evil doubt their's anyone as retarded as me out their but if their is anyone in the same boat I managed to get them to let me take it with just the card part of my licence. You fill in (or sign rather) a muppet form the bloke calls it Laughing that he'll give you. I seriously wasn't expecting them to let me take it, I phone the DLA first in the morning and they said no you'll need the counterpart then I even gave the police a call to see if I could get a covering letter whilst it's in the post.
