The last two days my local dealer has been shut. As far as i know they are usually closed on sunday and monday! I wanted to see what they would offer on my bike in exchange for an absolute mint fazer they had. I don't even know if they stil have it because they aren't open. I'm gettin frustrated now as i have no money until tomorrow to do anything with, im dieing of boredom, and i want a bigger bike so bad.
Pity me please Sad
Tom

have a browse through bike trader and see what kind of price they're going for in there. The dealer will undercut those prices by a couple of hundred quid, but at least you'll have a rough guide.

I just said ebay! to satisfy your need for a bigger bike (tons of them dirt cheap) - theres a blue & black fully faired sv650s on there - looks absolutely gorgeous. I just stare at it and dream of when i've passed my test. Very Happy

i've been doing that kind of thig most of today Sad.
Problem is my bike has scuffs on panels and other small bits n bobs that i'm unsure about whether it de-values the bike. There's no-one i know arouind who would give me a rough estimate either, fucking annoying.

An A1 condition bike is what you'd expct to see in a showroom. So yours isn't going to be in that category. If you can clean up the bike and panels then you might just make average condition. Otherwise the dealer may assume crash-damaged.

Ballpark figures, based on what I'd pay, and don't quote me on this if it's not what you want to hear or turns out wrong. So to buy from dealer would be £1300-£1500 for an average bike. So that'd make a trade-in price about half that (hey, a dealer has bills to pay, so what if that's 100% markup Rolling Eyes), say £600 to £800.

Selling private I'd say advertise at a couple of hundred below the dealer price and be prepared to drop another £50 to £100 or so (depends on the condition of the bike and the buyer).

As said, this would be my best guess.

FYI, Parkers on-line gives the following:
Quote:
Honda NSR125 R-V 1999/V
Original Price £ 3495
Independent Dealer £ 2230
Private Good £ 2040
Private Poor £ 1480
Part Exchange £ 1745

Honda NSR125 R-V 1999/T
Original Price £ 3495
Independent Dealer £ 2185
Private Good £ 2035
Private Poor £ 1450
Part Exchange £ 1725

...best bet is to see what a dealer will actually offer rather than these best guesses.

Yeah, thanks a lot, i'd be happy with just 1,000 for my bike, it's what i paid for it, and it's a fucking bargain. i just worry too much. The main reason i'd like to go through dealer is because i don't want to be without transport between bikes. Although froggy_girl128 has offered me her Thundercat, which is a seriously good offer, apart from an sv650 which is what i have my heart set on, i'd get a cat. We'll see though.
