Bike cops

Was out on a ride tonight and got a nod from a bike cop on a BMW. Top bloke whoever you are.

[Method]

Some of those blokes a pretty good lads!

I was on my way back from cambridge... riding alongside the A1(M) just before Peterborough, along the old A1 road... (to the side of the A1(M), for those who dont know it). I was absolutely thrashing the nuts off the poor GS, overtaking, hard leaning, revving the knackers off it , came to a roundabout at the top of a hill, i knew this roundabout was there and for some reason, for the first time in about 25minutes i decided i would let off a bit and calm down... i came to the top of the hill, saw the roundabout, and off one of the exits, were 3 police bikers... 2 marked, 1 unmarked... sitting there, on the outside crash barrier, sipping cups of tea from their flask...

i looked over at them, and they lifted their flask lids up to me, as if to say "Good-day young sir, carry on with your allmight thrashing, love the noise your making sir Tallyho"...

So i gave them a wave, and continued upon my thrashing

Brilliant lads some of them.

I get nods off police bikers pretty often. I've gone round a corner at pretty much full whack on the NSR, come face to face with one coming the other way, and still got a nod once too. Loads of them are riding instructors round our way too, dunno if thats the same everywhere.

I think i'd rather be stopped by bike coppers than in a car, although you probably couldn't bullsh*t them so easy.....

The joke was I was doing 50+ in a 40 at the time.

Suppose at the end of the day they are doing the exact same thing when they're out of thier uniform. I've been on the back of an ex police rider and he was no angel as far as speed limits and 5 car overtakes were concearned but you couldn't have wished for a safer, faster, smoother rider. He got the pegs down on a big GS850 too which was quite an achievement.

Never been stopped by a police bike (just a car), would imagine that they understand the feelings of a fellow rider more than some cunt sitting in a car all day.

Saw 8 police bikes heading north on the M6 when we went to the bike show at the NEC last year. They were no way doing 70mph and looked like they were racing in my opinion.

Funny, I saw 3 peeler bikes on the motorway recently I'd say they were doing the ton easy, no sirens or nothin.

I was caining it down the motorway doing about 100-110 and a police bike came up behind me, shit. I pulled in and he overtook me doing about 120 no lights or nothing!

I've been pillion on a mates bike when he got pulled over when we nipped out to get some food on a lunch break.

The guy said "Are you aware of the speed you were doing, sir?"

Went through some more routine stuff, checked the bike was in decent order, then just got some food out and started eating and chatting. Coppers on bikes seem much friendlier and relaxed than the more ignorant cagers that pull you over. My mate got let off with a warning and an excuse as to why we were late back to uni

I've only once pulled a bike on in my patrol car because he was undertaking on a busy street which was a single lane.
I just give him a producer and chatted about his CBR for a short time before telling him to slow it down because car drivers won't see him.

Sad thing is I end up scraping them up off the floor when they hit a lamp post at 80mph. Bodies like lumps of jelly.

Anyway, take care out there, because car drivers are stupid!

I have always said that the bike coppers around my way are great - always wave or nod and frequently stop at the local bike meets for some food and to talk bikes.
There is even one that I tend to meet on my ride home after a night shift who I ride with. He will take the lead for a few miles and ride at around 80/85 on the A4 (a lovely sweeping road) and I will follow. He will then wave me past and I will take the lead at around the same speed (sometimes a bit faster ). We ride like this for 10 miles or so, he then tends to go a different way at a roundabout.
I have no idea who he is, but would love to meet him (or her I suppose). I have learnt a lot just from following and watching the lines he uses

Might do it when it comes to near retirement time.
You get paid to ride a bike, how fun is that!
