So there I was, sitting at a junction near Henley waiting to pull out, when my clone rides past. Same black and yellow CBR, same black leathers, same black helmet.

Followed him for a bit, then he pulls over and lets me past so he can follow me for a bit. We play about in the twisties for about 20 mins, no doubt giving a few cagers a strange sense of deja vu as they get passed by an identical bike a few seconds after the first one went past.

"Nice bike. Wish I had one like that" he says when we're stopped at the traffic lights, before we head off in opposite directions.


Ever met your clone while out on the roads?

Not met my clone but while I was driving back to the race workshop in the team van a few weeks ago a Blue Fazer 600 came past me that was identical to mine with the number plate being the next letter in the sequence.

I thought it was quite freaky that two bikes had such similar registrations, until I put my brain in gear and realised that Yamaha had basically just block bought a bunch of registrations for each model and given them to dealers to use.

Weird that I'd bought mine almost 100 miles away though and this one seems to be local to me.

I met a guy down at the Rat and Survival bike show last year who is something of a doppleganger to me. He is called Amish Tom.

I would never have credited that there could be two people who look the same as me until I was stood face to face with him. We were even wearing the same leather bush hat and both keep shitty matt black motorcycles. Most odd.
