ay-up folks. i was just wondering if any1 could recomend a gud set of tyres for my er-5 front being a 110-70-17 and rear 130-70-17. i recently had a back tyre put on thinking it was a dunlop. when i got home i realised it was a "cougar Confused " and it cost me £100!! after about 2 months its totally bald and its like riding on ice Mad ive got a budget of £250ish so i think i should be able to get something decent. cheers Thumbs Up Mr. Green

p.s the stickier the better. i want something thats gud for ragging but something that will last. Thumbs Up Mr. Green

Erm, I always used Bridgestone BT45's. They were fine, lasted a bloody long time doing 50miles a day. See em on practically every ER5 I've seen.

Can easily get a pair fitted for under £250.

BT45's are great tyres, I always found them to grip very well indeed in the wet and the bike handled superbly with them on, I even did a trackday with a bike shod with a set of BT45's and not at one point in the day did I loose confidence in them.

I am also a fan of the BT45. Never had a problem with them on my GPZ500s which is a notoriously fussy bike when it comes to tyres.

When I owned my old ER-5 I had BT45's on it, best tyres you can get for an ER-5.

Get BT45's. I had them fitted to my GPZ500s and they completely transformed my confidence in the grip available and so the bike's cornering performance.

I have ridden on Dodsi's BT45s.

I agree, the BT45s are great tyres. Handle just fine for me. I don't like the wet anyway, but I've had my knee down just fine on an ER-5 on BT45s.

Aria were running some tyre deals, basically, you could either have front and back for 150 or front and two rear for summit like 230. cant remember the exact deals. But, I went for the avons, after reading some great things about them.

Got BT45s on my CB500, its my only form of transport so I do a lot of riding in the rain (heh, im from Yorkshire...). I tend not to lean as much as i do in the dry and watch out as best as i can for diesel and road-markings, but had no problems so far. Good tyres.

...not tried any others though... but general impression i get from this forum is BT45s all round :-p
