Finally got round to getting this off the GF's phone and onto my laptop.

Heres a pic of me putting a hired 600 hornet through its paces on a backroad (not a roundabout Wink ) a few months ago

AT LAST A PROPER KNEE DOWN THREAD!

I have been waiting for some proper knee downs, not hanging off the bike like a fucking monkey on a bloody roundabout like too many people do.

I salut you sir! Thumbs Up

Mostly I enjoyed it (I have a CBR6), I was pleased with the low down pull and it looked pretty good when it was parked up. It was an 03 spec and some guy on an S reg one chased me for 11 miles to shout 'Nice Bike!' out of his lid as he went passed (like the vauxhaull ad!!). I didnt like how squishy squashy it was, the handling wasnt bad but could do with being a bit stiffer for my liking. Its a piece of piss to knee down because its so low, a bit too low because I was scraping pegs everywhere and even scraped the gear selector! Other than that a good solid bike, even though it was a hire bike and probably been thrashed every day of its life!

Just build up slow, lean forward, with the toes of the prospective knee down leg on the peg, your opposite leg wrappede firmly round the tank, get your head towards the mirror, lean and hang whilst sticking your knee out as far as you can! Take it easy and build up though.

On the subject, I bought a pair of Wiz sparkies and the bleedin rods keep coming out them.

Pictures taken with my cameraphone!

Bastards! Anyone else have any experience with defective wiz sliders?

Finally sorted out my riding position; nothing wrong with hanging off like a monkey, helps me not fall off Smile.

Wasn't riding great in that pic - I'm sure I could have taken that corner at much more lean - as I think I was leaning a fair bit further on a /lot/ faster (probably 100mph or so) corner when I'd just got past a couple of people - though did finally find the limit there.

Posted the pic to show the 'hanging off like a monkey style - which I have been working to make a bit more instinctual on the road.

I love Hornets. Cracking bikes, look especially good when they have twin zorsts! Looking at getting one but have yet to find one cheap enough. Sad

As far as I know all knee sliders with titanium rods in them tend to have problems with losing them, especially as the plastic around them gets more and more ground away; there's not enough plastic to hold them in.

Some manufacturers might be worse than others, I dunno. Question

Most I've seen do, you'd think it'd be easy enough to have a slighty wider base or something to hold it in - but then not that I buy titanium knee sliders, I do own one pair, but they're motrax teardrops, so just fall of ya' leg as one!
