 |
|
hi, ive just binned my bike going round a corner at 20mph, there was oil on the road and i felt the tyre sidestep out then wash out, im really pissed off as if i cant claim even tho the crash was a small lowside, the bike has over £1000 worth of damage includin fork legs, fairings, frame slightly bent, exhaust badly gashed, swinging arm is ground up by the road. im only covered 3rd party fire n theft, and like i say taking a 60 mph corner doing 20mph it washed out. is there anything i can do about this i.e claim off someone. as the council had to come out and cleam the road of petrol from my bike and oil from the spillage. just after id gone down a 4x4 came skidding down the road nearly hitting me, and stopped just in time. i got there number and details ect and asked if it was ok to contact them. will this help me at all?
cheers, a really fuked off houlsby |

sorry to say that i don't know anything that can help you, but just wanted to say that i hope you do get your bike sorted and hopefully the council will pay up, especially as you have a witness, though i have to say it sounds unlikely that they will as they will say something like, "we weren't alerted there was a problem at that particular piece of road"
have you tried the spills kills website, may have some info there

I take it all your clothing is cream crackered? Try claiming the cost of all your clothing from your house insurance. ____________________ Past >>>> Honda NSR 125 >>>> Suzuki GSXR 600 K1 >>>> Suzuki GSXR 600 K4 >>>>Kawasaki Z1000 DAF >>>>Suzuki RMZ 250 >>>> Current >>>> KTM Superduke R 1290 >>>> |

I phoned the local council once and they put me through to a department. | MCN has a spills report forum, here's the link to the site https://www.motorcyclenews.com/nav?page=motorcyclenews.messageboard.forum&forumID=2301
The best thing you can ever do is to phone the police, get the names of who you spoke to and make it sound real bad, say cars are skiiding all over the place....and then get hold of the council or failing that the enviroment agency can assist, when you report the inccident please note down names and times and log on to the net and report it there (Above), Highway agency can assist on certain roads, dont let police, council or other say thay you must phone so and so and inform them that you are righting down the details as to when and who you reprted it too
Then go to this site to sign and try and attend the big rally 10 September 2005 https://darrenbourne.co.uk/killspills/.
Count yourself lucky, lots of bikers have been killed on oil/diesel spills, I would however put in a claim with however is in charge of the road, dont ask, just do it but before you do so try and fish to see if it was reported, this way you'll have grounds for a claim, go through MCNs site and there is tons of info relating to problems like this. |

You might be able to claim from the Motor Insurer's Bureau, as you can claim the accident was caused by the vehicle which negligently spilled the oil, and therefore it is an untraceable vehicle claim.

There are loads of companies which deal with this kind of thing. Give one of them a ring. ____________________ Current: Yamaha Diversion XJ900
