Hi guys, started my bike after blathering it in gunk degreaser and washing it all off, ran for 30seconds and then just cut straight out and refused to start again, engine is turning, spark plug is sparking and theres petrol in the tank, but sstill wont start, everything is working fine but it just wont work when you put it all together again, cant see it being the degreaser surely? one unusal thing is that its pouring petrol out of the rubber pipes on the carb, never seen it do that before, i is usually coming out of the bottom one but has occasionally been flowing from the pipes on either side of the carb, only one pipe is spillin petrol out at a time thougyh, never 2 or 3 simultaniously, cant work it out at all, thought it was the battery so i charged it up and its not that, was workin the night before no problems, not changed anything whatsoever to the bike that would effect the engine, only done the exhaust, and that was a week ago and it ran fine, other things are discs and pads etc, any help would be really appreciated! Oh, and the carb is a 34mm, engine is 123rotax on an extrema 95 with powervalve and unrestricted cdi and standard exhaust system

Thanks

James

Water in the fuel.

Turn the fuel off at the tap, undo the carb drain screw until it all drains out. Best to drain it into a cup to have a look to see how much water is in the bottom of it.

Do the drain scre up, turn the fuel on, see if it will start.
If it was my bike I'd put a capful of meths in the fuel tank too, to try and absorb any more water in there.

Tap the float bowl on the carb, also check the kill switch is in the correct position. Is the starter turning or not?

Sounds like a carb blocage to me, youve probably pushed shit into your carb through washing it, take it/them off and give em a good scrub! Sorted!

Hi

Fuel out of the hoses tends to suggest the floats are sticking as mentioned above. Tapping the car sometimes works to free them off.

However the chances are that it has dumped a load of petrol into the engine and flooded it. Turn the petrol off, leave the plug out for a bit and let it dry out. Then try again with the petrol still turned off (until you get it running, or have been trying for a good few minutes).

All the best

Keith
