Cheapo bike alarm

What have you got?

I'm after something cheap and basic. Preferably just a siren, movement sensor and remote control.

The cheapest I can see on eBay are £25 or so, which aint too cheap in my opinion.

Try maplins for something very basic, but £25 is pretty damn cheap in my opinion, when similar things would have cost you £100+ a few years ago, with less features.

Try this one from M&P. £23 plus postage (so maybe more than £25 then).

I'd stop trying to squeeze the pennies. The Cheetah alarms from eBay are okay, they do what they're supposed to and as said £25 is a cheap price for the features.

I'm after one as a way to prevent people nicking luggage attached to the bike should I ever be forced to leave it on for a few minutes.

So only need a movement sensor, and preferably a pretty sensitive one.

I think my dad may have an old car alarm lying around somewhere from which I could bodge something together... Though it'd probably drain the battery pretty quick if set off, and I'd also have to figure out where to stick the siren Thinking

I would be carefull with what you try and hook up with those cheap ones. I just got one off a guy on here, which looks like one of those cheap ones off eGay, ive hooked up the alarm, and the remote start... and am going to put the ignition hook on next so the remote start actually starts it, not just turns it over.

It has an immobiliser function, but im not trusting enough to even think about hooking it up. I did the first time, managed to immobilise it, and then couldnt work out how to de-imobilise it Embarassed

so ended up just taking the wiring off lolz Wink

But on the flip side, the remote start is the coolest thing ever Laughing

I have a cheetah one like this:

I bought it a few months when they were selling for 17 quid buy it now or something. Works great, but its a shock sensor not a tilt sensor.
Still works ok though as soon as you knock the bike it goes off.
Just to be a bit more secure im making a tube with a ball bearing in it and ill glue it to the alarm, so when you tilt the bike the bearing rolls and hits the end setting it off.
