Hi, i am going to be getting a new bike soon, a full power 125cc as i am restricted to 33BHP, and was wondering if some one could give me any info on the Cagiva Mito and Honda NSR.
i'm deciding on either one of these two bikes, i have read alot of reviews on both, and have seen reliabilty problems with the Mito which has kind of put me off abit.
i was wondering if anyone could give me some help on either of the bikes.

Cheers.

You won't get a cheap mito, whereas you could get a cheap NSR.

I think you'll still want a bigger bike. A restricted 400 could be picked up for a similar price for a nice mito. A friend of mine had an '04 mint Mito.

Did his test, had it derestricted, still wasn't enough. He sold it (at a loss of £1000 over about 5 months). And bought one of the nicest VFR400s I've ever seen.

I was looking at the Suzuki RGV 250, its just that if i did get a 250 i probs wouldnt get it deresticted, what would happen if i got caught riding say a 60bhp bike with the restriction of 33bhp?? anyone know?

Chances are you won't mate, heard that 2 stroke 250's aren't for the novice rider though, so if you want something that's going to give you a bit more confidence then it's not the bike for you.

Ever considered a commuter 500? The GPZ is quite sport from what I've heard.

I owned a tzr 250cc and it was a insanely fast coming from a cg125 to it, everybody is different though i wouldn't have the confidence to ride a 600cc sports for instance, maybe a 400cc but not a 600cc

So your saying its unlikely for me to get caught if i was riding a larger bike than i could. They wouldnt be able to tell if it was restricted anyway even if i did get pulled over, would they?

You can ride any size bike (cc) e.g.. there's nothing to stop you getting a hayabusa or R1 but it "has" to be restricted to 33bhp and not have a power to weight ratio greater than 0.16kw/kg (I think).

I personally look at either a commuter 500 (GPZ) or a sports 400cc (VFR,RVF, ZX400R etc..), you won't get bored of it too quickly and it'll be a completely different animal when the restrictors are removed.

I know all about the restrictions and BHP, i was just thinking of getting a 250cc with like 40-60 bhp and leaving the restriction out, its just that the possibility of getting caught, but i dont see how?

As I had CB400SF and I have now LS125R, lightweight 2T bike has different interest from heavier bikes. Everything is handysize/weight and can try at low risk/speed. Buying lightweight 2T before larger4T may be totally expensive but fun.

Hi

Both the NSR and the Mito can have reliability issues. Different problems but still problems. Price wise they are both pretty similar. Mito bodywork seems far stronger and less likely to be smashed to pieces by being dropped. NSR has less need for piston / ring changes.

To be honest if you have passed your test then I would say go for a bigger bike unless you really like sports 125s.

All the best

Keith

I never got a lager bike restricted because I would know it IS restricted, also there is the hassle of, is it, or isn’t it?
Not sure how much it cost’s for the restriction on bikes like the VFR etc, personally I would go for the Honda if you are worried about reliability issues. Or if you are game for the restriction lark go for the bigger bike, as these run and run forever.

The NSR WAS a good bike, the new ones are a bit tame from the shop, unless derestricted.
I have seen a derestricted NSR 2004 model and it does bloody go!
I had a Mito, I bought it and it was a dog before I owned it so keeping it together required a lot of patience (the engineering is something to be questioned) I have known two others around this area and they seemed fine from speaking to the riders, all 125’s like these have they’re niggles but the Honda is not on a suicide mission.

Oh looky looky what Killa found for you

A CaGonda NiStoR (nsr, mito)

A sports 2 stroke 250 would be much harder to ride than say a 500cc parallel twin. (GPZ, ER-5, GS500 etc).

I don't think a full power 125 is a particularly good idea. They seize often enough when they're only using 15 of their ~28bhp anyway.

I went from a 125 to a cbr600 which was restricted by the place i bought it from, which i removed a week later and have never been asked about it, so i would get a 400 sports bike or a 500, as you'll probably get very bored of a 125 very quickly and want something with more power

Dont go for Mito or NSR the RS125 is hands down the best of the 3, and you can pick one up for under 1500. I had two of them, and they never broke down and both went over 100mph (just). If you dont want a 125 then just go for a 600, thats what I've done now that i've passed my test Very Happy I looove my gsxr600. It should last me for years too
