Well Tuesday night Suzuki was kind enough to offer to take me to the Bassetts Pole on the back of his bike seeing as I havn't sat astride a bike in 2 months!! Now I knew that he was gonna go the naughty side of the speed limit at times but foooooook me I wasn't expecting warp speed!

Through Henley in Arden and Dorridge we took corners more lent over than i've ever been on a bike on my own. It made me realise what a novice/sensible rider I actually am! On one corner we actually got the peg down Shocked the old ring piece twitched a few times I can tell you!

After a breather and a curry (top nosh) back at his with the lovely Annabella, we headed up to the Bassetts at warp speed once again. After requesting that two wheels stay on the road at all times, imagine my surprise when leaving a set of lights to find myself nearly leaving the pillion seat as the front wheel reached for the sky!! Shocked Just about held on, if I was going, he was coming with me!

After saluting a C90 hero and passing a police bike at the redline in forth we arrived at the Pole and met up with The Fuzz and Mim (thanks for the beer Mim). The ride back was much more tame!!! Very Happy

It certainly looked like those new Avon tyres are up to the job although riding like that I can't see them lasting much longer than a couple of months!! Very Happy

So yeah, fucking brilliant evening, showing hospitality like that may make it difficult to get rid of me in future!! Thumbs Up If you get an oppourtunity to get on the back of his bike, run!!! No seriously, as long as you've got balls I highly recommend it, fast, insane, but safe at the same time!! (if that makes sense)

Now time for me to get a new bike and practise some of that peg scraping wheeling stuff Thumbs Up

Hmmm... yeah, that cop bike did give us a funny look as our revs dropped from 12k ish down to about 5k! Laughing Was worth it to give the chavs in the Golf GTI a pasting though.

Thanks for the coke Mim!!

The C90 was definitely the hero of the evening though. I've got to get me one of those!!! Very Happy

Have your arms recovered yet? Try doing that performance on a wrist which has only just come out of its pot a few weeks before. It's certainly character forming. Laughing (Try humpback bridges at speed! Shocked )

I've found going pillion on the back of someone going for it far more difficult than actually just dropping a gear and going for it on the same bike myself. That was only on a Fazer too. Laughing

Good post. Thumbs Up

1999 GSXR600 SRAD.

I'm happy to take most people out, but my riding style greatly depends on their competency as a pillion. Had EDBANGER been a complete novice we'd have pootled about at 50mph. Smile

I personally hate riding as a pillion.

I've never really been pillion before. Longest I've been is about 10m. Would love to have a go.

Yeah, but after the first few corners I could tell you were a decent pillion. Razz

Nobody is better than Annabella though. She's more like a small rucksack than a pillion! Laughing

Not really. Wasn't as leant over as I tend to be 1-up, and I've never scraped my pegs on my own.

Pegs only went down cos EDBANGER is a fatty, and compressed my rear shock! Wink

As you demonstrate too us all.

I fairly often take pillions on the bike.

Took this lass out from work on monday but took it nice and steady trying not to scare her, and I didnt so wants another go on the bike.

Give my mates lifts places (had both my pegs down a few times the other morning on the way to work)

But I tend to ride much more safely with pillions, its not worth the risk.

Been taken pillion recently on a VFR750 and absolutly cacked my pants! Shocked

You should try it. Might stop your back wheel breaking traction and chucking you in a hedge! Razz

120 didn't seem so fast after a while, which was rather odd. Shocked

the extra weight doesnt always make that much difference to a bikes ability to lean
infact alot of folk say there bike feels more planted with a pillion when cornering.
