Which Sportsbike tyre?

Which tyre is the current cream of the crop?

I run BT014s on my GSXR1000K5. What do you guys run? I'm talking about a general road/track biased tyre. Not touring or track only.

I'm using Pirelli Diablos.

When I had my busa, it originally came with Bridgstone BT56's (I think), and the were awful, tried a set of avons, good tyres but only lasted 580 miles, someone suggested the Diablo's gave them a try and really liked them, they seem to last around 2500-3500 miles depending on how much I abused the throttle.

When I bought my R6 it came with a pilot power on the front and a dunlop 208 something on the back, I kept getting the front end slip from under me every so often, so have put a set of Diablos on it, I've used the on Road and track and they've been as good as gold. The only downside, is they provide f**k all grip when cold. I probably will give the Pilot Sports another go come time to change.

Metzler Rennsports. I can get you a set part used for around £50. They are by far the best tyres i have ever used. So grippy it is unreal. The first time i rode my bike with them on i thought there was something wrong with them like they were flat.

I'd consider Supercorsa or similar race scrubs.

£50 - £80 for a set depending on wear, I've seen people have these last 1500 miles on the road on a 600, but I owuldn't expect that much if you've got a heavy right hand on a GSXR.

Wet weather grip isn't great, but they can be pushed a suprising amount if you actually try!

Edit - exactly the same thing as the Rennsports mark mentioned (same compound, different tread pattern and logo).

G recommended me the rennsports and they have lasted me ages so far which is good. Also in the wet i was really suppriesed. They still grip really well just you should be more careful on them than on other all rounders.

have 208gp's on my j2 zx6, cant fault em, really confidence inspiring, also stood up well to the odd wheelie, only £189 a pair fitted too. 014's were £240! and the tread looks horrible.

Might try some supercorsa SC1's next.

ANyone rate them as a road tyre?

I've got Pirelli Diablo Corsa as stock on the Blade and can't fault them. The warm up is slower than the previous Diablo's but nothing major.

I've got nearly 2k miles on them at the moment and the rear still has some life left in it.

Got Supercorsas on mine at the moment for the summer riding, brilliant grip, just keeps giving and giving. Will replace them next with normal Diablos as the Supercorsa aren't as good in the wet. Never slid yet, but I ride like a sissy in the wet...
