The Mito is slightly more powerful than the NSR, also that bit more fragile. They need some attention to keep going well, and top quality oil or else it'll pop rather quickly. They are quick though, a little faster than the NSR top end but acceleration should be about par. Quite expensive to buy due to being less common than other 125's. Need to be warmed right up before thrashings etc.

The NSR is more of the lightweight 125. They have a decent motor but is down on power to other 125's such as the mito and RS. Should take a bit more abuse than the others though, probably wont complain when running on cheaper oil either. Usually run to a very decent mileage without problems, whereas others need new piston rings every 8000km/s.

Depends what else you want to do with the bike. Weekend blasts or commuting/every day riding? What sort of budget will you be on?

What licence do/will you have? I've a mito on a full licence and keep getting pulled over cous i don't have an L-Plate showing. Worth it though! Bloody good bike, only got it a few months ago but loving every minute of it. Very Happy

As said it is necessary to pay her a fair bit of attention and can be expensive for parts, bloody italians. Thumbs Down

Great bike for a quick bledge to town Thumbs Up , expect a very sore arse if going any distance though. Thumbs Down

Acceleration and top speed are good, had a ton from her several times (all on private land of course) Wink

But overall it's a great bike, pretty bias though.

i would say NSR, from ym mates opinions. mito parts seem to be rather sparse, and being a 2stroke they will require some attention

I would go for the mito.
Not many people realise mito parts are ten a penny on eBay.

I have a cagiva planet and it's a fantastic bike. Thumbs Up

I'll be on a full licence when i do pass my test, so i will be restricted to 33bhp for 2 years. And for the use of the bike, i will be using it everyday for work and on the w/e for rides out.

Well there's your typical "looks and charisma Vs reliability" decision if ever I saw one! Laughing

The Mito is a mini Ducati. Nothing beats that for looks. But, it is Italian and therefore is prone to certain reliability and build quality issues (from what I've read). The NSR is a Honda and should therefore have superior build quality and reliability and should be less likely to break down on ya.

Both will give you a grin, but perhaps, when it's working, the Mito might give you a bigger one...

I have a rs125 but today I had a go on an R reg nsr which someone has just bought for £500. with a bit of crash damage. I think this was a bargain.

It has more power at lower revs and doesnt have the surge of power as the powervalve kicks in that I have on my rs. The nsr engine also rides smoother but there is more vibration through the bars and it doenst turn as well.

The power at low revs makes it far more useable in town but I dont think it wd be as good as the rs on country roads.

The mito is more like the RS.

I dont think the nsr will be more reliable than a mito or a RS. The Honda badge will not protect it from careless previous owners.

Id say if you are gonna spend most of your riding life in town, get the NSR. If you are gonna spend more time on fast winding roads get the mito.

my advice wd be to try out several bikes before you buy.

I wish I had.

I'd go with the nsr for parts & it's honda i think it would last longer, But you can't beat a ducati rep with the mito plus 110mph. If you're not intrested in speed go with the nsr as i hear aprillia & mito have exspensiveparts.

Very Happy Good luck.
