Does anyone know if you can get a decent fairing and some crash bungs for an ER-5? Looking for something to take a bit of the gail force winds away with the fairing and the crash bungs just incase I drop the thing some time.
A Friend of mine dropped his bike a few weeks back and did some real damage to his fairing, paintwork etc, I mentioned to him about crash bungs and he said that they looked stupid! Well he's got a huge repair bill and I don't want one that big if I can help it, so crash bungs make sence to me.

The fairings look shite on the ER-5

You could try a tastefull flyscreen, something subtle.

And you can only get engine bars for the ER-5 I think givi make them.

Check ebay for both, flyscreens are universal.

They look good with a little fly screen, and make the wind much more bareable.

Very small, very low quality pic.

If you want to make the bike look like something from the 80's then fine stick the above on.... Neutral

IMO your best be would be a flyscreen, it will make an immediate improvement without emptying your wallet. You are talking about at least £500 for a fairing kit, £100-200 to have it sprayed and then another £60 for bungs if you can find them.

Why not just sell the ER-5 and get a GPZ500s as it could be cheaper, but either way it will look a lot nicer than an ER-5 with a horrible aftermarket snowplough wrapped around it..... Rolling Eyes

Same insurance group, the same basic engine block but a whole 10 horses more power, same tyres, same haynes manual, excellent weather protection and yet just as reliable and good on fuel - Sorted Thumbs Up

Rolling Eyes

WTF...if he wanted ideas for another bike, he'd have asked for some. Thumbs Down

Hein - gericke, dubble bubble fly screen, clear or tinted, £25, iridium £30. Do very well for deflecting the wind!

I consider them the same basic bike.... like I said they share the same haynes manual.... It just comes with a 'fairing kit' already fitted Rolling Eyes

Yeah but upgrading to a 500...all he wants is a bit more extra protection...which a fly screen or small fairing will get him.

Small fairings don't have to cost £200, I sold the same one as pictures (well, mine was a powerbronze) for £30 on ebay, and have seen them new for £60.

Oh and on a small note, the gpz is a group higher...Razz

Go down to your local friendly kwak dealer, or even eBay.

Think they cost almost exactly £50.
But can you put a price on saving your engine?

Friend of mine had a ~50mph crash. Wrote off his ER-5. Engine was in perfect condition. We sold it yesterday for a couple of hundred.

He made more off of the bits than he bought the bike for.

Jammy git.
