When going around a parked car or other obstruction that requires you to go onto the other side of the white line, should you indicate or just "lifesaver">"mirror">"manoeuvre">"lifesaver" ?
thanks!

Indicate if it would help another road user.

But dont indicate if your near a junction, otherwise people could get confused and drive into you.

You're not changing lanes permanently and you're not changing direction (turning a corner), so, in the normal course of events, you should not indicate. Just a right shoulder check and manoeuvre as normal. Then a usual left lifesaver just as you pass the obstruction and return to your normal riding line.

Wise advice, and just as you should have been trained by your instructor.

You should indicate if there is someone in the vehicle, especially if it is a bus. If a bus indicates to pull out, you pass it and get knocked off, it is your fault, as it has right of way when it indicates. If you indicate before you get to the bus, then you have right of way normally, as they should see you coming.

Obviously you need to use your discretion, buses are too big to mess with, and they know it.

For my bike and car test I was told to not indicate when going around parked cars. Passed both and the examiner didn't say anything.

I was told on my DSC course that you should not indicate for passing parked cars.

I was also told that the only thing that other vehicle's indicators tell you is that the bulb is working.

I was told when learning to drive a car that you did indicate around parked vehicles. But was told on my cbt that you don't!
