Anyone know of a good supplier that sells Stainless steel disc bolts, M&P want like £4-99 each https://www.mandp.co.uk/productInfo.aspx?catRef=516021 They must be off their rocker considering a normal s/s socket bolt goes for around 30p, they are wanted for a Kawasaki ZZR1100 D model and need 20 (6 as spare) if so please let me know.

Considering the high stress that a disc bolt needs to withstand, the extra over a 'normal' bolt isn'y really that surprising.

Give Cradley Kawasaki a call and see how much they want for genuine ones.

I may be mistaken but i'm sure I got the disk bolts for my YZF750 from them. I know I didnt pay £4.99 each tho!

I probably wouldn't use SS for disc bolts. Stainless is a weak steel, far better with high-grade mild steel ones.

Not true, ss bolts have been used for along time, thread locking compund is a must do they arnt going to come loose, nor have I heard of any doing so, thanks all for the replies

There are over 10 grades of stainless steel. high quality stainless steel like 316,410 is a lot stronger than high-grade mild steel, but is hard to come by unless you build pharmaceutical machinery like me Wink


brake calipers and brake disks should only be fixed with high Tensile steel bolts or titanium bolts. They are put under a lot of stress under brakeing which could cause mild steel/stainless bolts to shear/bend.
