Grrrrr...cannot believe that I let my bike drop !!
So utterly, utterly devastated
I spent all day yesterday, and this morning..looking at, titivating, and just generally loving the Cocky one.
She was shining like a new pin, and so I decided to take my Daughter to her karate lesson on it.
Upon leaving the car park, (I was indicating right to leave car park), some total tw*t face in a Nova, or some heap comes hurtling round the corner and indicated left to turn into my junction (the car park entrance).
I can go then...nothing stopping me.
THEN he switches his indicator OFF and carries on.
So, I have to stop, a bit suddenly or go into the side of his car yeah ?
I plant my brakes on, feet down, but it was too quick.
Cocky overbalanced and fell on her right side
Gutted.
Fiance (luckily he was with me on his bike), helped me pick her up.
I did not want to look at the damage, but in the end it wasn't too bad.
Could have been worse I guess.
Once-perfect deep purple fairing scratched, bar end scratched, brake scratched, exhaust scratched up and some seal coming off.
At least it wasn't the tank ..thank you Lord !!
Now the bike is up, Fiance hurtles off in hot pursuit after tw*t faced Nova geezer.
He was about 40, wife in car, kids..blah blah
A screaming and shouting match ensues..
"You swung round that corner on the wrong side of the road, you are an idiot, blah.."
"I will have you know that I am an advanced car driver..blurb.."
The wife starts screaming at Fiance.
I was trying to start Cocky at this point, but no joy
Geezer says "That bike is too big for her, she lost her balance, she is a bit embarrassed. Look at her, her feet don't even touch the floor when she's on it"!!!
Now, Fiance points out, if that were the case, at traffic lights, surely she would fall over every time ?? Pillock.
Geezer begins to write our licence plate numbers down, mumbling as he does so.
Idiot
What fun !!! Anyway, Cocky started in the end, I have cut my leg. Pooie. It actually knocked my confidence a bit.
I got to go back on it now anyways, and pick my kid up.
Best way to get over the fear....get back in the seat !! ____________________ Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow"

Thanks
I know, I too am glad my kid wasn't on the back.
Just got back from collecting her now, and the ride was okay. A bit nervous at that same junction, but I did it !!
Lesson of the day..
Bikes are damned heavy !
God knows how I cut and bruised my left leg. Maybe the left bar hit it. ____________________ Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow" |

Aww Jo, bad luck! Poor old cocky.
Still, at least you are (mostly) OK and the damage is just cosmetic.
As you have been hurt, perhaps you should report the Nova-driving tit to the police for failing to stop after an accident? ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

(prepares for flaming)
sorry to hear that you dropped it and all....but at the end of the day it is upto whoever is joining the carriageway or who whoever is joining the major road to ensure that it is safe to do so.
ie even if someone is indicating to pull in before they get to you the onus is still on you to make sure they are turning before you come out
its still a shitter when it happens but we live and learn and hopefully damage nothing but our pride.
slightly OT but if your bike is damaged i may well have an R6 up for sale soon

Yeah man..I know..
Where the bike fell was even behind the give way lines on the road, so I hadn't actually pulled into the other road, (path of the car)
I was just edging up to the lines..and lost the balance of it at the last second, as the wheel was turned to the right.
Poop
Oh well....upon another examination the damage is hardly noticable, and it isn't worth crying over.

Gotta agree with the boys here, i only go when they slow down sufficiently. And if i have a pillion i only go when they are turning.
The distinction being if im on my own, if they suddenly turn off and accelerate, i KNOW i can get my bike round up and away without any hassle. With someone on the back it could end badly. ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

Well done ZZRman but it wasn't the car drivers fault, it is down to the person pulling out onto the road to judge when to go out and think safely. So the person in the Nova isn't a twat, just got an indication wrong (i'm sure we have all done that now and again) and it was Jo's fault for pulling out. So, no the Nova wouldn't get done for reckless driving.
Jeez, people don't like admitting their own mistakes do they.
But glad you are okay, learn for the future. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. A bit of advice for you...
