ok when i try to start my scooter (piaggio zip) the engine will not properly catch (i.e : tick over). any ideas? we've already replace a fuse and heated up the plugs.

could be that there is no spark going from distributor to the spark plug, try using a multimeter on the plugs when u start her. and check plugs for dirt and stuff. maybe check the carberator is working alright, letting enough air in.

Has the bike been standing for a while?

Bikes that are left standing for a long time with fuel in the carb have a tendancy to not start. This is due to the jets in the carburettor "gumming up". If you find this is the problem, take the carb off, and blow compressed air through the jets. Most people use a foot pump for this.

You havnt really explained it well enough...


is it Firing at all?

If it is, what is it doing?

If it hasnt been started in more than a couple of months, You should put fresh petrol in and try again.
