Do you know what oil is in the gearbox now? If so, put the same stuff in next time.

If you don't know, drain it as much as you can and fill it up using ENGINE OIL. NOT two stroke oil.

If you're going for a service, change the spark plug. Make sure the oil tank is topped off (this should be with 2 stroke oil). Check the chain tension and wheel alignment. Check the brakes. Oil the control cables (just a little bit down the end of the clutch and brake cables (only if your front brake is drum)). Put chain lube on the chain (all the way round). Check that everything is secure in place i.e. no rattling bolts, cracked plastic. Check all the electronics are working, and listen out for unusual sounds.

I wouldn't put engine oil in the gearbox, I would put gearbox oil in it.

I am afraid I don't know what grade oil your bike would take though.

Where else does engine oil go? It doesn't go in the crank.

Hi

From the Honda workshop manual for the MBX125 (basically the same engine as the MTX125) the oil to use is "Honda Ultra-U 4-stroke oil or equivalent API service classification SE, 10W30".

All the best

Keith
