At BdB as I passed the 1/4 I was indicating 140, it was actually 122, so hopefully it should be about the same difference when I'm indicating 170 Very Happy

Just reading an old copy of BIke and the tested top speed for your bike is quoted at a true 157.5mph so youre not far off zim.

Mine's quoted as 73mph Mr. Green go me

what durex the Goose could do the 1/4 in then MR Lucky ??

- 350 cc single (tuned up DR engine)
- 35 BHP
- 145 Kg
- 0-60 about 5 sec but not 2 sure
- Tops out @ bout 110 (not 2 sure cos my speed's nacked)
- loads of bottom end grunt from 1000-4000Rpm
- peak power starts @ 5500- max out at 8500.
- Red lines @ 1100-1200

Hell I don't know. Maybe mid thirteens. How would you feel launching and nailing her down the 1/4 though. remember it is as much about the rider as the bike.

There is a bit on the Straightliners website about timing calculations. I will use that and get back to you...

oh oh i'll definately be at elvington cos i cud probly run there in about 5 min (i live on the east side of York city), i'd hope to top out around 135mph standing quarter low 12s? Must make mental note to get bike dynoed for can and go to gym more, don't forget ppl to take every non essential off ur bike, i'm talking mirrors, rear foot pegs, indicators (especially large honda ones). Thinking about it i have heard of ppl putting their feet on the rear foot pegs in order to get more streamline hmmm....

The best time for 500cc and under bikes at Bulldog bash was 12.85, on a cbr4 I think. Vicky got around 13 on her cbr4, most of the RVFs/VFRs were getting 14s thanks to their higher gearing.

Ryan if you do that then make sure you have your bike boots under your leathers or have the tops of the boots taped up securely.

I lay flat on the bike on the flyer with my legs hanging off the the tail of the bike over the rear light.

My boots filled up with air and acted like mini parachutes. Shocked Laughing The worst part was that I could not get my feet back down until I had slowed down considerably. It knocked rpm down by 500 as well, so remember:

It's tape mate...

If not the air resistance I doubt it's good for it you feel like your boots are being pulled off (at very high speed on the busa) while still done up Smile

According the fairly recent review of the NCs in MCN, the RVF can do a standing quarter in about 12.5s, whereas the VFR was closer to 14s. The grearing is completely different on the VFR (compared with the RVF), and I certainly don't recall seeing any RVFs at BDB, so please stop comparing them Smile

AFAIK the RVF still has a close ratio box, but the first gear isnt as long as the VFRs.
I was thinking about messing with M's sprocket sizes to give a better takeoff from the line but unfortunately it would mess with the speedo as it drives from the front sprocket (although the correct combination of front/rear sprockets may actually make it read correct Confused )

I was merely trying to make it clear that the RVF and VFR are different bikes...the engine, carbs, gearbox, chassis etc are all in fact different...the VFR is said to have the better engine though, but the RVF has been setup "out of the crate" for better acceleration.

...as for changing the gearing - I'm thinking about that, especially since my speedo doesn't work anyway Razz

RVF's are a rich man's VFR. There is really bugger all difference between them apart from a couple og grand. Who's bothered about 1.5 seconds on the drag strip? If you wanna drag race get a faster bike and be done with it Very Happy
