Redex? I took the downpipe off today (getting the restricter out of it), and the port was completely black. So, I got the torch and took a closer look; the exhaust valve (what I could see of it) was completely black aswel. What's the best way to de-coke the engine? I don't want to take the head off because i'm no good with cams and valves.

A good warm up followed by a very good long thrashing once she's thoroughly warmed up.
Redex may well help the process and certainly can't hurt. Thumbs Up

EDIT - is she's not roadworthy then I've no idea. Not tinkered with 4-strokes before.

Squirt some red Ex up the exhaust port and leave it overnight.

Take the airbox off, set it at a high idle, and slowly dribble about 1/3 of a bottle of Redex or similar directly into the carburettor body. It worked a treat for me.

Take the plugs out , pour 50 ml of redex into each cylinder , leave it for 30 mins , then place old rags over each plughole and wind the starter over a few times to blow the redex out , refit the plugs and start it up , it will smoke like a twat for a few mins then it's good to use , i've done this a few times and it works very well .

Blacksheep, do you normally put the Redex into a hot engine?

No i usually do it from cold , if you put it in hot it would probably just boil off , there used to be instructions how to do it on the redex bottles,
don't know if there still are , i've not had to do it for a while.

There are instructions for the three methods of using it on the bottle. Follow as per.
